LCD does not list the complete file name if it is long

Hi, when printing using a SD card, the LCD screen tries to show the complete name of the top file but after displaying certain characters, it stops displaying the rest. How come? Is there a way to remove this limitation?

Yes. Stick to short file names and ditch the special characters.

Changes with different versions of firmware.  I believe v .10.x had a file name and special character support for longer file names.

Since there is a limited width and the display is blinky when scrolling, suggest you keep your file names short and ditch the reliance on special characters.  Try the firmware upgrade - it may make a diff for you.

RE: LCD does not list the complete file name if it is long

IIRC, default PS filenames are at least 40 or so characters long, so if you add much more, I can envision it running into limits.

I would have sworn that there was a config option somewhere in PS to tweak the output .gcode file names but I can't seem to find it right now.

I would echo the suggestion to keep file names short and to use 'vanilla' characters only.

Cura does tend to produce shorter filenames by default, but they are not as descriptive.

The limitation you're experiencing with the LCD screen is likely due to its limited display size or character limit. The screen may not have enough space to show the complete file name, so it truncates or cuts off the rest of the characters.

To overcome this limitation, you have a few options:

Shorten the file names, Rename the files with shorter names to ensure they fit within the character limit of the LCD screen.

Use a smaller font size: If the LCD screen supports it, you can try reducing the font size to fit longer file names. Consult the documentation or specifications of your LCD screen to see if this is possible.

Implement scrolling: Instead of truncating the file names, you can implement scrolling functionality on the LCD screen. This way, the screen can display a portion of the file name at a time and scroll through the remaining characters.

It's important to note that the available options depend on the specific LCD screen you're using and its capabilities. Consult the documentation or manufacturer's guidelines for further assistance in customizing the display behaviour.
