How to prevent extruder from resetting temperature to zero?
Is there any way to prevent Prusa MK3S+ extruder from resetting its temperature setting to zero every time after finishing calibrating Z, cancelling print, during print pausing?
I would like the hotend to stay hot at its previous setting infinitely or at least for certain period of time (e.g. for first minute of inactivity).
There is no simple way - what are you trying to do?

RE: How to prevent extruder from resetting temperature to zero?
I'm trying to stay calm and have fun dealing with my printer, but instead it gives me hard time especially during "rainy" days when prints are not going well and need to do some tune ups. The reason I downgraded from MMU to single MK3S+ as that unit was a main contributor to issues with loading filament in addition to this temperature "zerofication". Taking about what I'm trying to do and temperature use cases, few examples:
1. Starting a new print, while checking the first layer seeing some loosely stuck passes, stopping to restart (printer resets to zero temp), so while cleaning the table temperature already dropped down, so starting again which takes 5 minutes to warm up. After several attempts total time lost is close to half an hour just waiting for printer to warm up.
2. When Pausing a print somewhere the middle, nozzle immediately starts to cool down. So if you are not lighting fast then forget about recovering the print as at recovery it will attempt to warm up and during that time will leak hot filament on the table and eventually on the model. It would better stay warmed up, so I have a full control of the moment when it restarts the print - I would manually wipe up the nozzle and immediately press on continue, so no leftovers hanging off the nozzle.
3. Calibrating Z: Choosing in the menu to Calibrate Z, then material - PETG (waiting for warm up), printer warm up then goes through calibration once and immediately after it starts to cool down, but I need few more passes and while cleaning the table the nozzle temperature already dropped, so need to wait for warm up again. Annoying.
Would be nice to have a time setting to make a printer stay warm during that period. Let's say 1 minute of inactivity and if no other prints coming then only after that time to cool down.
One of the options I was looking is to find current firmware in open source so I can code it myself and share with community.
The firmware is on Prusa's github.
If on pause you select unload/load filament as in a colour change - but reload the same, then heat is maintained.
