Help upgrading from MK3S MMU3 with Revo to MK3.9 +MMU3 Prusa hotend
Howdy,
I would appreciate help knowing which upgrade(s) to purchase for my Prusa MK3S+.
Here's what I have:
- Prusa MK3S+
- E3D Revo
- MMU3S
What I want:
- MK3.9
- Standard Prusa hotend with 0.6 nozzle
- MMU3S
I know that I'll need the https://www.prusa3d.com/product/original-prusa-i3-mk3-s-to-mk3-9-upgrade-kit/ kit, but I am not sure if I need anything else to:
- Completely replace my E3D Revo hot end
- Make sure I have a Prusa 0.6 nozzle
Other than the linked kit above, what else should I consider purchasing?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂
RE: Help upgrading from MK3S MMU3 with Revo to MK3.9 +MMU3 Prusa hotend
MK3.9 has the Nextruder so your Revo Hot end is going to be replaced. I've not used the Revo (confess to having one in a box intended for another printer) so can't really compare to Nextruder except to say that Nextruder is a far better extruder and the nozzle end is a bit similar to the Revo in terms of the heatbreak being integrated with the nozzle itself. So yes, you would be going to a standard Prusa hot end. The upgrade kit presumably comes with a 0.4 nozzle so you'd need to buy a 0.6, but presume thats not a major issue.
Essentially it replaces everything the MK3 family doesn't have in common with the MK4 family except for the stepper motors, which you can replace yourself later on to make it a true MK4S.
If you're already on MMU3 probably don't need to do anything to upgrade (think use of MMU3 with mk3s needed a couple of extras anyway that are no longer required if you move to the Buddy board).
Nextruder is really good, well worth the extra, its a much faster setup than the old Prusa hot end and extruder.
