Flex filament (TPU) - which sheet?
I'm looking at trying some flexible filament, and am looking at buying a second springsteel sheet for my MK3S+ but the materials guide has me confused. The three types of bed it talks about are "powder coated sheet," "smooth PEI sheet," and "satin sheet," and it says only the first one is good for flex. The descriptions only sort of match the names given in the eshop for the actual sheets, though. So, is the "powder coated sheet" that's okay to print flex without gluestick actually the textured sheet? It would be nice to make these a little clearer.
RE: Flex filament (TPU) - which sheet?
Textured and Satin, are (to the best of my knowledge both powder coated.
However in the early days of alternate sheets there wasn't a satin option, so powder coated became an alternative description to textured...
when I first received Mk3, textured plates were not available so I learned to use a barrier on the smooth PEI build plates, and I marked my TPU reels to remind me...
By the way, if your TPU sticks too well, don't try to rip it off the build plate, instead dribble some IPA around the base of the model on a cold build plate, let it soak for a while, and the print should release more easily.

It certainly prints perfectly fine on satin sheets — as long as you use glue stick. Without it, get ready to order a new sheet... as I learned the hard way.

if this happens again, try the IPA soak Release option.

RE: Flex filament (TPU) - which sheet?
I printed on my Satin sheet and got the print off without any issues. I did have to use a plastic scraper to get it off but I didn't sustain any damage to my sheet. Saying that I will probably use my Textured next time but if I only had a smooth and satin sheet I would use the satin again.
