Filamentsensor doesn't work correctly

Hi all,

at the moment my MK3s has the problem that if I set the filament sensor to on, I can load the filament (the sensor recognizes the filament and load it to the nozzel) but if I start a print it starts to print the prime line but than wants to change filament. If I do the filament change the extruder tries to restart the print but instantly come back to the filament change.

I opent the extruder and looked at the filamentsensor, the mechanism seems to move with the magnets like it should. If I try to load the filament the sensor recognizes the filament when I put it in.

Any suggestions?

I am experiencing the same thing. I just upgraded from Mk3 to MK3s.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Both cases Prusa recommends disabling the filament sensor until you have time to go in and fix the problem.  They have a blog post about the stuck flag or whatever the problem is.  You can also contact support via CHAT and ask for guidance.

Did you read the FAQ chapter about the filament sensor in the handbook?

If you would have an MMU2S I would recommend to adjust the sensibility, but on a plain MK3S this isn't an option (as far as I know).

Maybe the lever sticks a bit. In this case, you could loosen the screw a bit so it can move more freely.

@lichtjaeger

What do you mean by adjusting the sensitivity? I have MK3S/MMU2S and started having this problem today after calibrating the IR Sensor. I'm also getting tool change problems, but that's in a separate thread (will not change filaments if using extruder 1; testing other extruders now). I've already cleaned everything out and have reflashed firmware.

What fixed it for me was putting a thin spacer (cut from a Live Z disk) under the IR sensor board.

Make a screw hole before you cut it out of the material.
