Filament stuck in steel ball compartment

Hi all,

When changing filament from PETG to PLA, first of all I preheat to PETG, unload the filament (I pull it out the second printer says so) and the "preheat" to PLA which has lower temperatures and I wait until the temp decrease to PLA default temperatures. Then I insert PLA filament, printer extrude it and I stary my print.

But, sometimes the PLA stuck in steel ball compartment where the IR leaver is and I have huge problem to get it out of there. Few minutes before I have to disassembly extruder to get blob of filament which was squished in steel ball compartment.

This is happens to me two times already and I would like to ask you if I am doing something wrong or there is something else I have to take care of?

RE: Filament stuck in steel ball compartment

I never seen this myself.

The way I change between PETG and PLA is to heat to the PETG printing temp and unload the PETG. Than Immediately load the PLA at PETG temp.

This helps to remove the last of the PETG.

I know some use a cleaning filament between different filament but I have not needed that so far.
