Filament runs but stub is even with top of PTFE tube, nothing for the gears to grab and pull up... what to check?
My filament sensor triggered and I went to unload the stub of filament left but it would not come out. Nothing popped up to be removed. I opened the idler door to see that the filament end was down level with the top of the PTFE tube. Seems the filament got pulled further down before the filament runout triggered? What to check?
I was able to put new filament in by first pushing that old piece down with a very thin allen wrench from the top, then closing the idler door and feeding in my new spool.

I've just had the same issue (Mk3S).

I took the front end of the extruder apart and loosened the bolt holding the filament sensor lever that moves just a touch. The bolt was not tight but it could have been a touch looser. I cut my filament with scissors so it would simulate a run out and it ran out and was able to eject fine. Hopefully that was the fix!
