Filament loading inconsistent

Hello,

We are having this brilliant printer in school for month and unfortunately I have experienced a few times issue with filament loading. Basically filament is sometimes stacking in the path before it reaches a nozzle entrance. It seams that the white tube which leads filament into the nozzle is short. I have got photo of this if you wish to see.

My current solution is to cut the filament to blunt end rather the sharp tip. It makes higher chance to go through this part but it doesn't work 100% and it is annoying to unload and load filament several times before I can actually print.

There is also a little software issue. When printer finish printing the extruder ends his path on very low Z axis position and it makes slightly difficult to load filament for another printing. It would be better if extruder finish somewhere in the middle of z axis. I guess this has got a solution in Slicer settings and I just wanted to mention it for possible improvement.

Thanks for response and great printer.

Hi David,

could you let us see the picture please?

the white PTFE tube should be just clear of the Bondtech drive gear, there should not be a significant gap.

is there a taper in the top of the White PTFE tube to direct the filament into the PTFE tube?
similar to that in the diagram below

Regards Joan

Hello,

thanks for the reply. I'm not sure about the taper, but I think that filament is hitting gap between the PTFE tube and body of extruder. Here is the picture, I'm not sure if you will be able to see anything, I can try make another one without filament.

You can barely see the PTFE from the hot end. It should be protruding from that hole, and close to the bondtech gears. I have a feeling your hot end assembly is not properly seated in the 3D printed parts of the extruder assembly. Can you share a photo of the nozzle end of things from the back, or remove the fan shroud?
