Re: extruder scratching infill

Hi Joan, it does make sense - thank you for the detailed explanation ... in the end I am now running the Fillamentum PLA Extrafill white with an EM of 0.94 and the normal flow setting of 95%. It is interesting how different even the PLA brands are ... colorFabb PLA/PHA and the Prusa silver PLA were running nicely with an EM of 1.0.
Lesson learnt ...
Thanks,
Mark

Re: extruder scratching infill

You may want to check out this video on YouTube:

The video is about calibrating linear advance (currently in the current stable Slic3r PE PLA profiles, this is set at 30 for direct drive and 200 for bowden), but he does a thorough job by showing what should be configured first before linear advance. Specifically, calibrating the extruder. Even if you don't go on to the calibration of LA, the extruder calibration should be very useful and is the first 2 steps of his 4 step process.

Yes, he is using Simplify3D, but one should be able to find the relevant settings in Slic3rPE.

He also has links in the video description for his sources.

I haven't done this yet, but I plan to right before I start my next set of projects, lithophanes. (I'm thinking this will be very important to get the most accurate thickness-based translucency required for lithophanes.)
