Extruder is "clicking"
Hi everybody,
mi printer is working fine and statistics say for more than 65 days and over 3,5 km filament. But since a few days the extruder makes clicking noise. i checked the screw on BondTech gear but it is tied as it should be. can anyone tell me what the reason for that may be?
I was not able to insert video here so you may click Video with clicking extruder
thanks for ideas
RE: Extruder is "clicking"
Not sure, but did you check the nozzle is okay? Maybe the nozzle is slightly clogged or in the hotend are leftovers of filament. Looks as a clogging issue
RE: Extruder is "clicking"
If this is a new problem and you haven't changed any settings, try raising Z to max and examine the flow as you extrude some filament. If it comes out irregularly and angled to one side after a few moments, you might have a partial clog which can cause back-pressure leading to the extruder gears skipping. If it comes out smoothly and coils neatly below the nozzle, a partial clog is unlikely. If you suspect a partial clog, start with doing cold pulls. They're good to do on a regular basis, particularly if you switch between filament types. Also check the filament path to ensure there's no unusual friction dragging on the filament. It sounds like you've checked the extruder tension screw(s).
The clicking could be the result of retractions, although that shouldn't be a problem that just starts suddenly.
I recommend printing out an extruder visualizer. They make it easy to see if the extruder is making odd noises.

RE: Extruder is "clicking"
thank you for your help,
I have replaced the nozzle and print results are very good. That clicking is always when the extruder is retracting filament before fast move to a new position without printing. The click comes when retracting and again when filament is moved forward. While extruder is extracting filament to print it is silent as it should be. This is the reason that i checked the screw on BondTech gear.
I will print such a visualizer and then look forward.
