Extruder clicking when retracting (3.2.0 firmware)
Updated to firmware 3.2.0 and ran Extruder linearity correction calibration to enable LA. I sliced Benchy using default 0.15mm OPTIMAL settings in Slic3r 1.39.2. I started the print and one hour into the print I started to hear the extruder clicking every time it was doing a retraction. I'm using Prusa grey PLA at 210c.
Here is a video:
Is this something that needs to get fixed? Benchy ended up looking good (to the eyes of a newbie).
No errors in the statistics. Max extruder temp was around 42c.
Re: Extruder clicking when retracting (3.2.0 firmware)
Double check Extruder cogged gear. You can have it only full of filament mess (dust etc). OR you can have a damage on pressure flap like I have. Look here, topic is in Czech, but pictures talk clearly. https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/napady-na-zlepseni-archiv--f125/přitlacna-klapka-na-odpis-po-2-měsicich-t17621.html
My printers start whistle every single retraction.

Re: Extruder clicking when retracting (3.2.0 firmware)
They decreased the currents for the extruder motor because some people had problems with the temperatures of e-motors going up to > 60° which causes PLA to soften ...
Some people, including myself, have now the problem you are reporting.
Workaround would be to increase the currents manually. This can be done with g-codes M911 and M913 ... see http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M913:_Set_motor_percentage_of_normal_current
Re: Extruder clicking when retracting (3.2.0 firmware)
I get this twice at the start of every print now after the recent firmware update. Once during the extrusion line at the start of the print and then once when it actually starts the main print after that there isn't any cases of this happening for me.
Re: Extruder clicking when retracting (3.2.0 firmware)
Interesting update. I wanted to explore more this issue so I went ahead and printed a 'retraction test' https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1240361 . Sliced with default 0.15mm settings and printed. Extruder reached 41c as when I printed the Benchy. However, there was no retraction noise this time. Hmm, what is different? I was looking at the retraction caused by this test and it was smaller than the one produced by the Benchy (also with default Slic3r 0.15mm settings).
How can this be explained? I'm ruling out a hardware/assembly issue at this point. I will move on and keep printing other stuff.
PS: There was barely any oozing between the boxes.

I am having the same problem with extruder clicking after LA, haven't found the issue yet.. just to let you know you're not alone 🙂
