Doesnt extrude at certain position

So i have following problem:

When I start a print it prints fine till some point and then it doesnt extrude anymore for a short distance. After that it extrudes normal and goes on with the print and next time at this same spot it stops again extruding.

It only happens at the same spot for this short distance.

What could cause this problem?

I had recently a jam and heated up to max to remove the jammed filament.

Actually i first had this extruding problem after that jam happening.

Should i exchange the hotend?

Is this a heat creep?

Please help!

But this time it was a bigger one

It's a prusa mk3s+

You should consider that you may have a loose, or shorted electrical connection. Many times they manifest when the printer is in a certain position. Unplug the machine, check all your visible electrical connections, and of course those connected to the Ensey Rambo board as well. If the visible connections all appear fine, then consider that it maybe a shorted wire.

This is not the only reason for this behavior, but is a very common one.

Hmm. In fact, after I removed the blob around the jammed nozzle i saw that I also hurted a little bit the thermistor cable. But it still worked and anyway, this wouldnt affect the printer in such a way?. Actually its just a small visible scratch

Yeah moving print on bed will say wether it's electrical or not

@cramb7

I would not expect the thermistor wire to cause this issue, if it was you would most likely see the temperature of the filament drop to a point that it could no longer extrude. If filament has suddenly stopped extruding its most likely a loose or shorted wire to the extruder stepper, or you have a tension related issue with the Bondtech gears. Either one of these can happen at certain points of the print as you described.  A tension issue would normally manifest in the form of under extrusion before failure. Where as an electrical short will happen suddenly, but can be intermittent at first. Based on your description I'm guessing electrical. Having pictures of the failure would help if you have them.

@rd I did think electrical but normally that happens not always at same place that's why moving print to different place on bed we can see if it happens at same place it's not electrical

So i moved the model and did also a first layer calibration.

It's always in the same area. Just there it doesn't extrude anymore..

All other areas it prints fine

Does the extruder stepper rotate at these points?   Mark a spot on the end of the axle with a sharpie and watch ...

If the axle stops it's almost certain to be a connection issue.

Not sure if I understand axle right. You mean the middle thing of the extruder stepper?

I'll give it a try

So i looked at the axle while printing. It was always rotating even in the area it doesnt print.

For better visualization I added a picture of the problem

Your Z offset calibration is too low in that area and the extrusion is scraped too thin.  Take a look at this page:

stupid me found the problem.

there was some filament stuck under the sheet, thus too close in this spot.

Thanks for all your help!

You're not the only one who has experienced that 🙂 Glad it was nothing serious.

That's the advantage of imagery, I would never have guessed electrical problem based on your description, if I had seen that image first. You need to provide quality information to get a quality response, otherwise we're all guessing. Since the description was poor you might have gone on a wild goose chase.
