carriage stuck at top of Z axis and x axis self test fail
Hello,
I would so appreciate some help. I am very frustrated.
1. The carriage is stuck at the top and when I go to move the z axis it is already at +0.00 and I cannot bring it down to the bed. I think this is causing the second problem.
2. The self test for the x- axis is failing. The error message says to check the x-axis length.

Shutdown printer move the z-axis by hand, turn the rod left and wright.
For z-axis chekc if black round cap on the bottom is loose, it should be loose.
Then move all axis to the end-stops of the printer(by hand), and see what it hits, it should not be hitting cables or wire-holders, if it hits something what it shoud not,the it is possible that the length is not OK.
Also feel if all axis move without trouble by hand.

So I got it to work and I can now go through the calibration wizard. But even though it goes through the calivration and says success and all OK, it still crashes on the x axis. I would be so grateful for more help. I am trying to print more shield bracket/visors.

is something stopping the printer X carriage, reaching the left end of the smooth rods?
have you lubricated the smooth rods?

If you don't feel any binding moving the X axis by hand (no places you have to push any harder), and it's not running into anything, next thing to check is the belt tension. Too much tension makes the stepper work harder and can sometimes cause similar issues as binding does, too low tension can cause the belt to skip on the motor pulley.

Thank you. There is nothing blocking the carriage. How would you lubricate the rods?

Thank you. Belt tension for the x axis is about the same for the y axis.

When I turn the power off, I can move the bed back and forth easily. But the carriage I can only move to the right. It seems stuck when I try to move it to the left and I would have to apply a lot more force to do so.

I also get a message and have been since I started printing several weeks ago that says "G-code sliced for a different printer type. Continue? But I have a Original Prusa i3 MK3 and that is the setting on the Prusa Slicer

X-axis check if belt is to loose or not to loose. On the side you can loosen it a little.
Check the grub screw of the x-axis if this is tighten,
Check if belt is rubbing on the side of plastic.

For movement left and right, or forward and backward. Have you tried lubricating your smooth rods?
for model sliced for different printer, make sure that you are using the correct profile, in Prusa Slicer
Prusa Slicer adds a couple of lines that the printer checks before it runs the code
here is an example for a 'Mk3S'
M862.3 P "MK3S" ; printer model check
M862.1 P0.4 ; nozzle diameter check
M115 U3.8.1 ; tell printer latest fw version
here is an example for a 'Mk3'
M862.3 P "MK3" ; printer model check
M862.1 P0.6 ; nozzle diameter check
M115 U3.8.1 ; tell printer latest fw version
If a model is sliced for a Mk3 and used on a Mk3s, it is likely that the model will print fine.
If a model is sliced for a Mk3 and used on a Mk2 with MMU it is almost certain that the print will fail. because one printer has a direct drive extruder and the other has a bowden printer. so at the very least the retractions will be wrong... and the start length for the bowden feed will be incorrect
As you can see in the blue and green examples above,, the 'printer Model' has changed in the first line, and the 'nozzle size' has changed in the second line.
If you have a 0.4,, nozzle installed on the printer, and slice the model for a 0.6mm nozzle in error, the printer will alert you tot he different settings. If you continue without changing the nozzle to 0.6mm then the 0.4mm nozzle will over extrude badly.
the printer also checks the firmware version and alerts the user if there is a more modern firmware available

Earlier you asked how I would lubricate the Smooth rods...
Well. I would lubricate the Linear bearings, during assembly, but that is not a lot of help to you...
so in your case, I would smear some of the Prusa grease on the smooth rods, then work the carriage across the lubricant, a couple of times, then smooth some more grease on the smooth rods and repeat, hopefully you should notice an improvement in the smoothness of the bearings.
if that doesn't work, then you probably need to strip the machine down and lubricate the linear bearings internally

Lube the rods with thin oil, oil with PTFE inside, this you have to do every few weeks, of course first clean with alcohol, so the dirt is gone.
