Can't add blanket modifier to all items on bed

I have multiple items on the bed.

How do I select all, and add a modifier to all the items?

I can add separate modifiers to each part, but I want to add the same modifier to all the items, all at once. Not make individual modifiers with all the same settings.

You cant.  You can copy a modifier from one part to another though.

An alternative is to add your additional parts using the right click add part option then all your parts are logically grouped together (the tree list will show them all under the same branch).  When added that way then I think the modifiers act on all of them as slicer then considers them all one part.

Thank you.

Out of curiosity, what might be the thinking behind not allowing a blanket modifier?

(My parts aren't the same. They are cut pcs. I have added the mod to the whole piece, then cut. It would just be a little easier to cut, then blanket mod. I will try cut, mod, then copy the mod.)

You would have to ask the design team the reasoning behind it.  However from a personal point of view with a densely packed build plate its good that a modifier only effects the part its added to as that way it doesnt matter if it overlaps the part next to it.

Without you posting your zipped up .3mf project file I'm not sure I get what you mean by cut pieces ?  Parts added to another part don't have to be the same.

I assume you are adding several different stl files to the plater and then adding one or more modifiers that you want to cover all of them ?

To do that I would add the first stl file to the plater as normal.  The I would right click on the first stl model, add the next part.  Add any more using the same process.  Place all my parts (cant use arrange though as as far as slicer is concerned its now all one big grouped part).  The when you add a modifier it applies to all the grouped parts.

Think of a pyramid, sitting in it's regular position.

I want to add the same mod to the top quarter and the bottom quarter.

I'd like to be able to cut the part in half horizontally, reposition the bottom half to lie on its cut face, then add my mod to both pieces at the same time.

So why not cut the part and then load the 2 parts into Slicer ?  You can either use slicer itself, cut them, place them as you want, export as stl and then load the stl back in to then place your modifier (s) (which is a bit of a pain admittedly) or use something like meshmixer or blender to modify your pyramid, save and then add to slicer.

As stated in the duplicate post (stop doing that):

The "blanket modifier" is the settings in the slicer.  If you want to change perimeters for ALL PARTS to 3, then set print settings to 3 perimeters, and all the parts are affected.

This is a nice idea to do with the blanket modifier.
