Building MK3S+ extruder - Mentions Yellow/Orange dot
Hello all,
Sorry if this has already been answered. I searched and could not find the same issue. I am working on a new MK3S+ build and I am currently working on the extruder. At the beginning of the chapter https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/5-e-axis-assembly_28536 , it mentions in the tips section this:
The hotend for MK3S needs a shorter PTFE tube compared to the MK3 (more info at help.prusa3d.com/PTFE-MK3S). The PTFE tube is already installed, MK3S compatible hotend is marked with a yellow/orange dot on the heater block.
My hotend does NOT have a yellow/orange dot on the heater block. Does this mean I have the wrong hot end? Attaching a few images of the box with the model and the hotend I have.
Thanks in advance!

The manual you linked to is for the MK3s, not for the MK3s+
This is the manual you need:
https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/5-e-axis-assembly_169235
That one doesn't mention the yellow/orange dot. So it looks like you should be fine with the parts you have.
In step 13 you can see the hotend fitted in the printed part. There you can check if your PTFE tube is long enough or to long.

Thanks @baklin,
Now I'm worried that I've been doing other parts wrong. The info I linked is from the physical copy that was sent with the printer. Should I stop using it? I just checked it and it doesn't specify a printer on the front, but it does say (v3.20)

I suggest that you skim through the early sections of the mk3s+ online document and see if there are any differences compared to what you did...
I have not yet seen a mk3S+ in the flesh but I have built two mk3S in the past.
From what I recall the early sections cover Y axis assembly, where the new printer has sheet metal bearing retention clips and the old printer had ubolts
the Y axis smooth rods have screw on retaining clamps on the new model and cable tie retainers on the old model.
I think the next difference is the extruder, where you are now...
if you have the new parts so far, you should be good to continue,

Step 5 (step 4 in the MK3s manual) in the X-axis assembly is also different. The + has a different way to tension the x belt.
The y-rod holders and the x-end-motor part are the most noticeable changes when looking at the printer.

i have been building both extruders. no big differences only some gaps are smaller within the mk3s+ one to make tolarances smaller so more reliable.
