There is no way OnShape is "vastly more full featured". Actually you will likely find that most CAD experts feel that "vastly more full featured" is one of Fusion's strengths.. so weird for me to read that comparison.

The link below is just one of many, many CAD software reviews you can find online that looks at both OnShape and Fusion and others. I'm sure you can find many videos that recommend OnShape and many that recommend Fusion.

CAD Software review

I'd try both and see which one 'fits'. My experience with Fusion is that there are so many great tutorial and courses available for it.. but you need to spend significant time learning which ever one you choose. Those hours will pay off enormously as you build your expertise and your design expertise will improve as your design time decreases.

Really, “beginner” is irrelevant to the discussion. It’s like starting a sport and getting the cheapest equipment possible. Sure that is a good strategy if you aren’t going to stick with it. But you never develop effectively, because the equipment just doesn’t perform, and you develop bad habits to get around limitations. But if you really think you will stick to CAD modeling long-term, get a really good CAD package. I second Fusion 360 as an excellent package. It is free and its restrictions are not really restrictive. Pretty much full features. Way, way more features than I’ll ever use. But unbelievably productive once you get over the learning curve.. for which I recommend something like a $20 Udemy on-line course to start with..
