3 types of PEI spring steel sheets in listing not in box
My kit just arrived and I was expecting to see 3 types of PEI spring steel sheets just as specified in the list of features under Print Surface here: https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers/180-original-prusa-i3-mk3-kit.html
I only got one plain steel sheet. Did they forget 2 of the sheets or is that statement on the store totally misleading?
Re: 3 types of PEI spring steel sheets in listing not in box
3 types of PEI spring steel sheets are listed, only one ships with printer and only that is avaliable, still you cant buy a spare if you need. But they will have them in the future.
"The new MK52 Magnetic HeatBed holds a replaceable alloy spring steel sheet with a PEI surface. You can choose between two types of sheets - smooth PEI sheet (default option, already available) and textured powder coated PEI (this will be available later). "
choose between two types of sheets = You will get only one sheet, so your order is complete

Actually my understanding is the smooth PEI sheet will potentially "go away" once the Powder coated smooth comes out.
Basically the Smooth PEI sticker one, was supposed to be a "temporary product until the PC ones came out"... which... I wouldn't hold my breath on a release date.

You did well by accept the order with PEI and not wait futher, as no ETA for other sheets.
I would like to buy the new sheets too, but the PEI do the job just fine, theres nothing to dislike
Re: 3 types of PEI spring steel sheets in listing not in box
I send them an offer of help with the coating process as I work in an applicable field of research. Let's hope they take it. Or figure it out on their own soon.

OK, yes i now i have been saving my "good" side. The problem is that i got a big dent on my bad side so im a bit worried it will not be completly flat if i turn it around. But i guess i can sand it down a bit.
Hope they will start selling atleast the steel spring ones soon.

I hate linking to non-prusa products on here, but as long as they won't sell it, I will.
I recall a review that showed the mk3 version even has the "notches" for the mk3's heatplate.
I would contact their info before buying, but If you need new "metal" there's one.
WARNING
It's not "spring steel". It is not NEARLY as good as the "offical" ones. But it's a LOT cheaper than, take for instance, buying a new mk3, to get the build plate. 😉
You would need to get either BuildTac, or PEI to put on that as well. That's just the "Steel sheet".

There's no problem. Magnets will push the sheet into bed, the dent will not affect the performance.
I find hard to damage PEI with noozle or anytool, but for people who just start now with 3d printing can be a problem, and that is a bad point for prusa with MK3, and i don't understand why they don't order a lot more sheets and make them avaliable to buy as spare. Any machine where you can't buy spare parts is a huge negative point / dead investment, is like buy a soldering iron where you can't buy spare tips or other parts that will wear overtime and will need replacement, also you can think with a car, same logic. Hope prusa got into that shortly and give people the oportunity of buy spare sheets as that is a fundament piece to print.
You also can re-coat the PEI, but is a hard job for a first time
Re: 3 types of PEI spring steel sheets in listing not in box
thank you, it feels alot safer to know there is sources to get something similar atleast.
I will wait to buy a new one incase i will do some more mistakes. Im gonna rebeuild the printer later and then i probably replace it.
Hopefully the fancy plate is up for order by then.
Yes it is my nozzle that have made some really big dents. Printing PC without really know what im doing. I noticed PC is really hard and also likes to warp alot. PINDA gets in the way and will be pusched upwards. Next print gonna be a sad story.
