0.3 layer height
Hello,
I have a Mk2s and Mk3.
When I was doing an slicing in the MK3 slic3r and found it doesn't have the 0.3 Fast profile the MK2s slic3r has.
Does it mean is not recommended to print in 0.3 layer height in the MK3?
The thing is than when I compare the printing time of a large piece using the MK2s 0.3 Fast profile and the MK3 0.2 Fast profile, the one from the MK2s is smaller. And that's kind of not cool.

Re: 0.3 layer height
This isn't overly helpful, but I read somewhere (can't recall where exactly) that the 0.3mm settings were dropped because in practice they didn't impact print speeds compared to 0.20mm despite optimistic Slic3r time predictions. However, I've had no issue adding 0.32mm settings, so it's easy enough to add them back. I personally like the look of 0.32mm layers. Everything I'm finding indicates that 80% of nozzle bore is the thickest you want for layer adhesion reasons, so I'm staying at 0.32mm max.

Re: 0.3 layer height
The reason that Prusa dropped the 0.3mm from the MK3 is because of at the higher linear speed the MK3 can handle it was coming up against the volumetric limit for heat transfer to the filament. So a MK3 at 0.2mm layer height and a 0.4mm nozzle can print the same volumetric rate as a MK2 at 0.3mm layer height and a 0.4mm nozzle.
Individual printer/filament combinations may be able to go faster but that is about it.

Re: 0.3 layer height
That only makes sense is speed is the only goal you optimize for. I would also prefer, if the 0.3mm layer height would be back again - but of course, it is not hard to "diff" the MK2 profiles to see exactly, which parameters would be needed to be tweaked to create one for the MK3. Especially if you are fine with MK2 speeds.
Re: 0.3 layer height
0.3mm layer height will give you large time benefit over 0.2mm, stronger layer, and yes it work you just need to ajust the speed setting, i print all the time with 0.3mm.
Even a 0.8mm nozzle with 0.6mm layers can give you benefit you just need to slow down the print speed but it will save you a ton of print time in the end
Clone 0.2mm profile -> change layer height to 0.3mm -> Go to Speed -> And change infill and solid infill to 75 mm/s. So with 0.3mm i won't recommend go faster than 75mm/s
Re: 0.3 layer height
Thanks to everybody your comments have been very useful.
I'm going to print something in 0.3 layer and Mk2 speed and show all of you.
Thanks 😀
