Would you like a USA replacement part distributor or parts from Amazon?

Shipping from the Czech republic is very expensive. It would be nice to have a USA replacement part distributor or at the very least parts available on Amazon. Prusa has to be losing money when it is cheaper to order replacement parts with FREE shipping from China

Of course, I'd love to be able to order parts and supplies from Amazon with prime shipping. I wonder how much business Prusa would need to be shipping to the US to make it worthwhile?

YES! i ordered a new pei sheet and two belts on the 13th and they still have not shipped yet. They should have authorized resellers in North America so we have less downtime waiting.

It would definitely be nice to have local stock. But I also don't hold any illusions as to how quickly that stock would run out, or the viability of it.

I'd wager they just don't want to have to deal with stocking TWO places if they are already struggling just stocking and shipping from CR.

Not to mention that if all your stock is local, you have direct control; Consider the 3S upgrade - Imagine Amazon had ~100 Mk3s in stock for sale prior to that being officially released. Now those are just going to sit there accruing fees, or will have to be shipped back in order to have the parts updated - because since the 3S is the same price, and newer, unlikely anyone will buy the older 3 anymore.

Same applies any time there is a part revision or firmware change. As quickly as their designs iterate, if you want to always ensure what ships is latest and greatest after a certain date, having stock elsewhere is a complete nightmare.

From the early MK3 days there was a customer created spreadsheet where customers collectively tried to gain insights into Prusa’s backlog. Almost 50% of the MK3’s tracked were shipped to the United States.

That doesn’t mean 50% of Prusa’s business is US, just 50% of the customers who used the tracking sheet were US customers. But it does imply that US does make a nice chunk of their business.

Prusa could open an entire factory with hundreds of printers in a US-based farm. But they have enough trouble with logistics from one factory, the complication of a second factory, or even just a distribution hub might break them.

When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "YES!"

Yes, I would like a US distributor, and it would have probably led to me making additional purchases (MK3S upgrade, spare parts, etc).

It's not the big expensive items that need to be stocked, it's the small items where the shipping overhead (both in terms of cost and time) is annoying.

If they opened a factory in the USA, the union(s) would swoop in, and the minimum wage for the guy who puts parts in bags would be $30 an hour. And that would mean our wonderful sub $1000 printer would cost $3500. Also, the quality of the workforce is not what it was in the 50's. There is no more pride in an honest days work in the states anymore.

I dont mind waiting if it keeps printers of this caliber cheap, and reliable.

Keep it up Prusa!

As another said, Printed Solid carries a lot of parts including flexible spring steel sheets and PEI sheets. They also carry a ton of replacement parts, as well. All 3d Makers is another good source for some odds and ends.
