Or there are several threads related to the loud beep;  and always possible you posted a second nearly duplicate thread after qualon's post and a mod merged them. Or most likley - you are just looking at the "last post by" information.

No I was not looking at "last post by" I was looking at "Author".

if you look at your reply don't you think it mighty odd that the posted message in the first one in your list User=bernard.g5 (me) is exactly the same text as the second in your list User=quanlan0910 apparently posted a week later.

And then I see you found a 3rd one with the exact same title but I can't make out what thats about, but I see it say Posted by:bernard.g5 so back to fame again.

There are apparently more than one sophisticated spam accounts that reply using snippets of text from others threads. The responses look legit. Apparently they work by embedding spam links in the quoted text.

So it's entirely possible a spambot is duplicating entire new topics if they're identical.

In any case, I had no trouble locating your original beeb thread by looking at your activity, such as it is. Suggest not worrying about this too much.

I take it you have surfed to that first thread to see who the author is.   Let me make it easy for you:

tim-m30 - no I did not surf to see the author.  The post was showing (and is) showing on the first page of 'General Discussions'  and the author is clearly showing as quanlan0910.  I recognised the post as mine and wondered how the author could have changed from my name to another.  Simple as that.

yes exactly the same title and exactly the same text.  My bloody text.  I've been plagiarised. 

but really I don't think this would be the case and think there must be a systems fault

Uhm... did you miss the bit I wrote about the spambots? That's what they do. There seem to be a couple of 'em. Don't let it go to your head.

Hey bobstro, I did not miss the spambot notion and I do thank you for that explanation, I was diverted by having to explain, in simple terms, the problem so another contributor who was endeavouring to explain a different theory in their own sweet way.   But this spambot has a username so maybe the moderators need to be aware to remove it?     A couple of 'em?   If you mean the posting title, then yes they are multiplying but if they are not in my name my fame is not spreading so I can't let it go to my head just yet.

Please just use the "Report" button next time. It's easier and reaches the right people (admins, mods).
