RE: Unofficial order topic for mk3s

So I ordered mine on may 13th when the lead time was 3-4 weeks, I saw that come and go, now I'm at 6 weeks and counting. Hopefully soon. In the mean time I'm glad I picked up an Ender3 from a Microcenter about a month ago.  I've learned a lot and cant wait to compare it to the MK3S. I was lucky enough to be able to assemble and calibrate a Prusa Mini at work, wow it is so nice. Quite beyond compare, I know Prusa is a nice product but the lead times are crazy, I was thinking about investing in the company if it goes public but I'm not sure about their manufacturing process from what I've learned. A lot of talented people working there for sure.

True. The lead time thing is really confusing... it's not that the lead time counts as the time you placed your order. It's variable. So changes to the lead times also affect your already placed order. And that's a point i don't understand. That they have to increase the lead time as demand raises is clear. But that those increased lead times already affect your placed order is frustrating.

I started with a lead time of 3-4 weeks as i placed the order. Then it was changed to 5-6 weeks, another change to 4-5 weeks and now it's changed again to whopping 7 weeks lead time. Wow...

The Prusa way of processing orders is really frustrating.

@covertpluto

Oh no, I totally understand the lead times since the manufacturer I work for was hit hard by the pandemic too. What irked me a little was that I know of a few people who ordered after/ around the time of my order who already received them. I just thought it was a bit odd, especially since a bunch of people still haven't received theirs from early May. I respect Prusa for pushing out these printers whilst producing PPE, I just hope that normalcy will return somewhat soon.

I've just occupied my weeks of waiting by ordering a dozen spools of filament, couldn't hurt to be prepared. 😁

Back when I ordered my Mk3 in Jan 2018, I had a very similar experience with the delays. After a few weeks of checking daily, I decided to quit stressing out about the delivery and focused on learning about the slicer and a bit of design software. I learned some Fusion 360 basics and more-or-less forgot about the delivery. After 90 days, I got the shipping notification and was delighted to have a surprise coming instead of working myself into constant disappointment. Reminded me a bit of Christmas as a kid. Turning it from "this is taking FOR-EVARR" into "man, I hope I can learn all this stuff in time to be productive" helps a lot.

I recommend reading up a bit on common maintenance tasks as well. Clearing extruder jams, swapping filament and nozzles and those sorts of tasks if you're not already familiar with them.

@bobstro

Thanks, I have been taking some time here and there to learn the basics, and that has me anxiously pacing back and forth til it comes. I've actually been working on a 3D model of some reusable face masks in Solidworks as well as Inventor for a mechanical engineering senior project at my college. Since campuses abruptly closed a few months into the semester, I already had a little bit of research and was ready for a prototype but with no means to create it. This certainly helped pull the trigger in purchasing my first printer; I heard nothing but amazing things about the mk3s and really wanted to support a company like Prusa. I know it's worth the wait, I definitely feel like it'll be like Christmas as a kid all over again 😃

Well, this one is on me.

I awoke to a shipping notification! After waiting for 6 weeks, I was elated!

But I remembered that I had ordered a textured sheet and 3 more rolls of filament.

Still waiting...

RE: Unofficial order topic for mk3s

I ordered my printer almost 5 weeks ago, and I'm becoming worried that it will ship while I'm away on holiday. So today I contacted the chat on the Prusa shop, and indeed, the estimated remaining time is about two weeks, right into the time I might be away from home. So I'll likely ask to postpone the shipping if necessary.

I'm a bit disappointed that, most likely, I won't be able to assemble the kit, and then try the printer, before it's almost time to go back to work, but at least it won't get lost. Plus, the gentleman on the chat was very helpful and answered my questions quickly.

Looking at the google sheet, it seems like most of the gaps between order dates are for those that include the textured steel sheet.

I got my shipping notification July 1st, but when I went to FedEx’s website it stated a shipping label had been created. Today, July 2nd it actually got picked up and an expected delivery of July 6th to western USA. Yay!

I ordered May 18th, black and orange, PEI and no extra stuff.

Scheduled to be delivered today, 7 weeks and 1 day to the door, nothing extra. Looks like they are starting to make some progress on the backlog.

My kit has arrived 😀 ordered 5/21, orange/ black w/ the PEI sheet and no extras @ 6 weeks and one day. I'm more surprised that FedEx picked up the kit and delivered in just under 30 hours (29:57 to be exact).

I'm wondering - according to the doc, they prioritize US-Orders right now 🧐

Ordered May 12, orange/black with both sheets and no extras. Still waiting, I expect it to be at least 8 weeks until it's shipped since Monday is a federal holiday in Czechia.

My own Mk3S kit was ordered 5/23, shipped 7/6, and is supposed to be delivered tomorrow (7/10). Unfortunately, I'm not sure I'll try to build it over the weekend, as I'm supposed to leave home for several weeks next thursday.

RE: Unofficial order topic for mk3s

This is getting to be ridiculous, my 9th week waiting  starts today. Despite the info in the unsolicited email reiterating 7weeks and slow improvements I am not seeing any evidence of improvement. There is clearly selective shipping. Even taking the DATA in the google sheet with a HUGH dose of scepticism the Orange with both sheets is clearly taking MUCH longer than Black with a single sheet. Orders as much as two weeks later than mine are shipping if they are Black/PEI. Any order needing both sheets means 1 less order gets shipped if there is a shortage of one of the sheets. So priority seems to be single sheet orders to fulfil as many orders as possible despite them stating orders are chronological the evidence states otherwise. I also have a mini on order which is apparently due to ship in September. Based on the wait for a MK3s it may well be September 2021 !

OK, Rant over but still not a happy bunny.

The wait is frustrating but updates that are clearly designed to placate rather than provide any useful info are bordering on insulting.
