Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.42.0-alpha4

Loading a multi-part object for MMU is broken. It's already been noted and should be fixed in the next release.

Really? So they broke a fundamental feature as this? What is broken about it, and is there a workaround?

Loading a multi part stl produces something like this. No workaround that I'm aware of. That's the joy of alpha software.

Capture.JPG

my alpha 4 has not been doing that.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

all I can say is WOW, really if they just add a few more things. slicer is almost a cad 😀

I almost bet they can add a "pen" function and we can draw colors on our stl's.

Wish I could find out how to connect the new version to the i3 MK3 using USB cable and Com4 and 11500 setting I used before, damned if I can find how to set this in the new version, or am I to much of a noob............... 😕

Agree but slicer is so nice, it is my favourite, after Prusacontrol which is so easy to use, sad I cannot find this option in the new release.......... 😳 😳 😳

Hi Shaun,

have you disabled the internal raspberry pi port? via the LCD

if not, external usb control, is not available!

regards Joan

Re: Slic3r Prusa Edition 1.42.0-alpha4

that's the issue Shaun,

it would appear that the default setting for the printer is to connect the control functions to the internal raspi w0 interface, which prevents the external usb port from working with pronterface or Slic3r or other external usb services....

just check the internal raspi port is disabled, and you should be good to go!

Cheers for that Joan will look later have a print running from SDcard because Slicer after a crash would not restart the print, but will check that setting at the end of my print, and report back..many thanks.

This feature has been removed You can no longer print directly to the printer from Slic3r PE. You'll need to use Pronterface, Repetier, SD card, or Octoprint on a RPi.

I don't know joan, it still has the print queue.

That's used for Octoprint.

https://github.com/prusa3d/Slic3r/releases/tag/version_1.42.0-alpha1

Under "Features dropped from this release:"

Online printing over serial line aka the "Controller" was dropped for now. We are not sure yet whether we will integrate it into Slic3r again, or whether we will create a separate application for printer and printer queue control, or whether we will drop the serial line printing for good, as there are other applications that serve the same purpose. Please let us know what you think.
