Slic3r PE

Whilst I am waiting for my mk3 kit to arrive next week, I have downloaded Slic3r PE. I currently use Cura for my Creality CR-10.
Is I possible to use Slic3r PE for my Creality? How do I add this printer profile, if so?
Thanks,
Texy

Re: Slic3r PE

Hi Texy.. .
Take a risk of faith.

Load the filament on the Tronxy.

Is the Tronxy a Bowden feed extruder. If it is. Increase the retraction to say 3mm.

Slice a small model in Slic3r.
Try printing it on the Tronxy...

I have a couple of friends with Chinese prusa clones. And they are using slic3r pe .

Good luck. Joan

I've gone the other way, getting other slicers working with my Prusa i3 Mk3. It's usually a question of getting a few basic hardware settings right. So far, I've had luck with Slic3rPE, Cura, KISSlicer and IdeaMaker and can get decent prints with any of 'em. Joan's got it right: You need to just dive into it.

Most of your work is going to be on the Printer Settings tab. Set the bed shape and max Z. I assume your G-code flavor will be Marlin, but check with some of the Creality groups. Lots of folks on Reddit using those if you need to ask. I'd assume Supports silent mode and Supports remaining times would be no. You can probably port your Custom G-code over from Cura, translating the placeholders for temps. For Machine limits, again ask around. The Prusa numbers are probably OK to start with if you can't find a specific setting. As Joan notes, your extruder details will probably be the area of biggest changes. The good news is that you can probably just transfer your settings for retraction etc. straight from Cura. They use similar names for things.

Thanks all. Well I had notification that my mk3 kit will arrive Monday. I'm busy this weekend, and then the kit arrives so I will be.....very busy for a while 😀
I was kinda hoping that a profile would already exist for the standard (non-PE) version of slic3r, and that the PE version could be coaxed into using it.
