Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Just to confirm: my kit actually arrived today. That's not even two weeks since ordering! And UPS took only 1 day with regular(no express) shipping. I'm so happy

Ordered an MK3 orange kit with powder coated sheet on May 6th. Chatted with support this morning and changed to smooth PEI sheet, got shipping notification a few hours later and according to UPS they've picked it up now!

You're killing me 😥 . Really trying hard to hold out for the PC sheet. Man this is hard!

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Looking at that, it appears the Kits are shipping MUCH faster, but the assembled version is still taking the same amount of time. Makes me consider switching to the kit.

So, for the community, I see a lot of people saying "Get the kit, it's good experience", and "the kit is easy", but then I see a lot of people in the Assembly forum saying "Got my kit, missing parts", or "put it together backward and broke it all", or "it won't print!". (Ok, slight exaggeration).

Does anyone have a sense of how many people are able to build the kit the first time without a failure? Is it 50%, 75%, 90%? Or do many people regularly have a build failure but just are more patient than me? I'd love to save the time and money by getting the kit, but if I am that one guy who puts the power supply on backwards and the thing catches on fire I would be absolutely devastated. I'm spending almost my entire discretionary budget on this thing, so there is no money to repair / replace if I do it wrong. Which is why I basically spent the extra $250 to have an "insurance policy" that it was put together well.

Thought?

Phil,
This was my first kit build...i would say it took 10 hrs over three days to build. But the instructions are insanely awesome for each section and you might want to have to pc version near by in case you want to see the pictures in more detail.

Just take your time and make sure nothing is put on backwards. You'll be fine.

No kit for you. Go with the assembled version.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

I can report that my Kit ( orange, PC-Plate, ordered March 22nd ) has been shipped today. Finally some good news :D. Anyone who has ordered a printer with powder-coated board should just sit out those last remaining days. Since they are finally shipping, it isn't worth changing order just to get it a few days earlier.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Ordered Mk3 KIT (Black) with smooth plate on 07/14/2018.. Still listed as backorder, but its only been a few days..

Am I correct in assuming the "Backorder" status is just the placeholder during the 3 day lead time for new orders until a shipping invoice/packaging is done?

So I will most likely get shipping info by the end of the week/see my kit delivered by next week?

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

FWIW, ordered my orange MK3 kit with smooth PEI bed on 07/11/2018, it shipped on 07/13/2018, and it arrived at my door on Monday 07/16/2018 and I assembled it same day. So yes, the 3 day or less from order to ship is real- at least until orders pile up.

So yes, backorder is a status until it ships, and when it ships, DHL pushes it through.

Now again, the announcement of 3Day thing was on the 10th. I didn't see it until the 11th and ordered right then. But the rest of the world also may have read the same notice, and who knows but Prusa Research how many orders were placed between the 10th and now. Just based on the previous poster, not sure if black VS orange makes a difference, not sure if the volume of orders increased due to the announcement, not sure if ordering on a weekend vs weekday, vs earlier in the week makes a difference. To me, things like the weekend and other details do affect in theory because unless it's a 24/7 operation with shifts, and even then the picking up of shipments is not on Sunday, maybe limited time slot on Saturday.

Also, order number xxxxx7858

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

How reliable are the ship dates? According to the shipping schedule, mine should ship on 20 August.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

It doesn't look very reliable tbh. Waiting for a PEI kit order from the 18th, still not shipped. That's 7 days.

Based on the spreadsheet, yours has shipped? I hope the schedule is somewhat reliable.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

I suspect delivery times are 6-10 on the powder coated based on running the numbers on the reports on the various forums, but this is based on the reported order dates and delivery dates. It is not exactly scientific.
