Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

UPDATED: I tried the magnets on the threaded rods and the attraction was not as strong as to the hardened steel smooth rods. Are the threaded rods of a softer material?

Do you know something I don't know? The only thing a magnet tells you is whether or not the metal is ferromagnetic or not (iron, steel, etc). As far as I know, how strong the attraction is doesn't tell you anything about the metal's composition.

Were they making the rods out of Al before? Could you link the post that told you to do this? I get the feeling there's a solid amount of BS you've been told.

In the above blog post, search for the section with the title "Smooth rods fail". Some MK3 printers were accidentally shipped with stainless steel rods, rather than the correct chromed hardened steel rods. My kit ordered on December 2 and shipped after that blog post arrived with the correct rods.

Ohhh I see.

Some varieties of stainless steel are magnetic and some aren't. So they either switched to a magnetic variety or chrome plated some other ferromagnetic metal.

That also explains why they specified to use neodymium. Since they're so faintly magnetic you probably wouldn't be able to tell with a ferrite magnet.

Cool, thanks.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Ordered on 2/27. Can’t find myself on the spreadsheet. Is it broken?
I guess I would feel better if I was at least acknowledged and didn’t get lost in the system.
😐

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

You need to put yourself on the sheet if you want to keep track of it.
It is not maintained by Prusa, its a community effort.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

Just got this message from UPS.

03/15/2018 7:05 P.M. A missing commercial invoice is causing a delay. / Your package was released by the clearing agency.

Does anyone know what it means?

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

It means they shipped your printer to my house!

No relax, a lot of folks have reported seeing this message. It just means they haven't gotten the paperwork from Prusa entered in yet. It will update later. Nothing you can do now but sit and wait it out.

Curious that they shipped yours out of sequence. Maybe because you requested an Autograph.

Enjoy your printer!

I ordered Jan 8th and requested a signature but still stuck on Back-ordered (Kit).

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

The sheet won't let me enter a date later than 2018-03-09 for the shipping date. Not sure what's up with that.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

My order was placed on 13 Jan, and included an extra roll of clear PLA. I noticed yesterday that the clear PLA was out of stock, and I was concerned that this would hold up my printer order. Here's what I got from Support (via chat) after asking about the status of my order (placed 13 Jan):

Martin06:24
I checked it, all order should be sent in line. There is no exception. I add your order on shipping list with high priority. Clear PLA should ne in stock from yesterday.

Me06:24
OK. Thanks. Do you have an estimated shipping date for my order?

Martin06:27
It should be sent within 2 weeks. We are sending the orders from soon January

Me06:28
Ouch. The last shipping table showed that it would ship next week. Has there been another delay in shipping the MK3 printers?

Martin06:33
We have delay a few days

The data validation was set to list and the list only went to 3-9-2018

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

So happy to report that I received an email stating the label has been created for my assembled mk3, orange, ordered 1-28-18. Spreadsheet updated. The assembled units are running several weeks ahead of the kits, opposite of when I ordered

At least they stick to their story about everything being shipped in order without exceptions.

I would have ordered assembled if I knew kits were going to be a month behind (they were a month ahead).. Kinda sucks that they pushed kits back (mine pushed back a month) but rushed the assembled ahead of schedule instead of just making them ship at the same time. Mine should ship tomorrow, I will update the spreadsheet when I get the shipping invoice.

Re: Ship Date Tracking Spreadsheet

It would not speed up the delivery of kits if these handful of assembled printers would be hold back. Prusa needs to have people available to assemble them and if less people order assembled machines it would be silly to have them not to assemble later orders and it would be even more silly to hold back the assembled printers just not to annoy anybody who ordered a kit.

Just look at it as two seperate products with different supply chain restrictions. Depending on demand the one or the other will be easier to get.

I understand their reasoning but it doesn't change the fact that orders have been pushed back a month while others are now shopping a lot sooner. They really aren't two separate products, the exact same parts are used. I'm only saying it sucks, because it does, but I'm still eagerly and patiently waiting. I'm just voicing my opinion as a customer.

Yes and no.

What if they have a separate line of printers just enough to feed their assembling stuff at full capacity? Then push back of assembled printers is solely set by amount of assembled orders vs. throughput of the assembling stuff and has no influence on the push back of kits.

Why should they repurposing parts designated for assembled printers into parts for kits and sending their assembling stuff into forced vaccation?

If anything sucks, then that they cannot print parts as fast as orginally planned but not that they are able to send out assembled printers earlier due to fewer orders.
