Selling my Prusa
I am going to be selling my Prusa. Is there a general discussion forum for people to post their printers for sale.
Mine has less than 20 hours of print time and I am cutting ties with It. I know that printers require some maintenance, but I do not have time to be spending continual time calibrating then adjusting idlers etc.. I also do not have time to invest in new parts that it may need to compensate for known problems with it.
I think I will just use my filament maker I purchased to make filament and sell it to people in the prusa network in my region and get out of 3d printing. I guess it is not for me.
I will wait till printers get advanced so that they do not require maintenance and tuning beyond normal periodic maintenance.
Anyone interested let me know.

Laser printers have been around since the 1980s and still elude a lot of people. Once you get beyond toaster-level functionality, a lot of people have a hard time with technology.

I am always on the lookout for another. I am on the west coast of Canada. I took up 3D printing to make things. However, unlike some that took it up to compliment another interest, I am OK with having to work on getting it to print reliably. I have the time and the background. I do not look at issues as "problems" but as "opportunities". It is too bad that you, like others, have reached this point but I can respect your decision.

Well Ken everyone has their expertise and chosen likes. I have adult adhd and I like to digest everything I can. But sometimes my condition helps me recognize when I need to step back and say this is not my motivation. I like to tinker with things but when it is something I do not intend to tinker with (the printer), away from normal maintenance I get upset. I am putting trust in the product that it is going to work for me. I have come to realize 3d printing is advanced but still at the tinkering stage for quality performance. When it gets to the point devoid of tinkering for quality performance I will take a deeper interest. That being in the advanced stage for personal use, yes it is at that stage at the commerical level but I am not going commercial with it.
I am going to stick to designing and refining my designs with the design software and focus on making filament. I figure having the filament maker will not be as intensive as messing with the 3d printer and I can make a little money selling the filament. That is my hobby. Engaging in different things that make me money on the side. That in itself is a hobby for people who like to make money by providing something that someone needs.
So if you are interested please let me know and we can negotiate a sale. I just bought a set of brand new nozzle diameters for it too. 🙁

I'm in the midwest if you're close and have a decent price in mind. I am curious how you plan to produce and sell filament without a machine to print and test on..........I would think you'd need at least a few test-prints to show off the color and quality of your products.
Is your printer grinding? Bearings squeaking? Motors smoking?

I will just measure variances with my caliper as long as they are within the 1.75mm that is sufficient for me. Even the name brand filaments have slight variances so I can still fit in with them.
I will just send a sample to a interested party so he/she can print something perhaps a benchy. If they are happy with it and want to buy then that is my confirmation for the general public.
You provide a service if certain number are willing to buy my stock I have on hand, then that is good enough for me. I do not need a printer to print something up, I will leave it up to a customer to make that determination. I may have to go through several customers to get the one that likes it and not over critical like most people. That one customer is the one I'm going to base my results on.
It's business that's all. People do not have to buy my product if they don't like it. I chose to cancel my order for a mini because I do not like the printer extruding at various temps and I should not need to upgrade as others have to prevent clicking. I have gasted all remedies. So since I do not like the product. I choose not to buy again. It's business that's all.

Yeah but try and get a ribbon for your dot matrix printer. They don't all work out. FDM will always be part art.

I agree. With my adult adhd and love for learning new things, I presumptuously thought printers were in the stage for common people to use without much tinkering. I learned the hard way that they still require individual attention beyond normal maintenance.
I like your reference to FDM being part art. That is a really good observation. It will be a interest for enthusiast who take an interest in calibrations to satisfy their engineering skills.
I was just wanting to explore and create my designs but I will forgo such ventures. I see myself residualy staying in this venue by making filament for those tinkerers. We can all be a contribution to the art. I will offer my palette in the scheme of filament services on a low level, nothing commercial. Just enough to make back what I put in to it along with a little money leftover and maybe get a couple of regular customers. Nothing wrong with that.

First I will only have PLA. Then how that turns out. I will move onto PETG if I do not need to upgrade many parts on my filament maker.

Where at in Fl are you at. I am in Florida now becuase my work sent me there for a few months.
I found out what the problem was and fixed it.
