SD Print stops when Octoprint connects

When I got my MK3 almost exclusively used OctoPi but after a while I started to use my SD (FlashAir) and rarely print with Octoprint any more.

Today I had reason to use it, and "connected" when the printer was mid print from an SD card and the print just stopped.

I am pretty sure this is a known issue but was pretty sure I solved it some time ago.. But clearly now, if you 'connect' OctoPrint mid print it stops the print.

Is this expected behavour? Is there a solution?

Its not really a big deal but I just wonder if this is something that can be fixed?

Jon

RE: SD Print stops when Octoprint connects

This is normal, the printer resets when something connects to the serial line, be it octoprint, pronterface, etc.

It can be disabled by a hardware mod, IIRC but this has the consequence of no longer being able to update via PS, you'd have to flash via ICSP as it can no longer reset to the bootloader to do the update over USB.

If you connect your Pi via the GPIO pins, it won't do this.

Look up instructions for connecting a Pi zero. You can connect a Pi 3B(+) or 4 the same way.

Cheers both... its a really minor issue so i can live with it.. i only asked as i was sure i had this issue originally and fixed it, but thats clearly not the case.

i was originally going to use a Pi Zero over GPIO but went with a Pi3 instead... i might look one day at moving from USB to GPIO or i could just live with what i have..

thanks for taking the time to reply.. cheers
