PREHEAT ERROR - Hotend hot fully heating
I recently had to change the teflon tube in my extruder. After completing that, I am getting a PREHEAT ERROR and the hotend will only heat to about 150. So something got messed up during the teflon tube swap. Any ideas what could be the problem? Thank you!
RE: PREHEAT ERROR - Hotend hot fully heating
I'm getting a similar problem "Preheat Error" when the hotend is heating. It gets to around 160 then fails. I noticed once it gets up to 100 it slow down the heating until finally fails at around 160. Note: I have swapped out both the heater cartridge and thermistor and replaced mainboard with a new one. Any ideas anyone?
RE: PREHEAT ERROR - Hotend hot fully heating
Such behaviour has been reported after hot end work has resulted in the heater block being screwed right up to the heatsink. This dissipates heat into the sink and stops the heater block from reaching temperature.
Check the E3D wiki for v6 assembly instructions.
Also if you have swapped out the heater cartridge make sure you have the correct one. Wrong voltage or wattage produces heating issues.

It turns out that in my haste to put the extruder back together I did indeed get the assembly wrong and the heater block was hard up against the heatsink. Thank you.
