If the powder coated plate has good durability, I could see it being a good deal. I think the powder coated plate is what's holding up my week 9 kit order, and if there's a reliable alternative out there, I'd consider requesting the stickers spring plate to get the printer faster.

The only issue I have with the PEI sticker is the first layer texture. I definitely wouldn’t let the powder coated sheet hold my order up. As an aside I did purchase a Build tak spring steel sheet and print surface, I rarely use it.

Can buy almost three of the old sheets for that cost!

Really? From where? Prusa won't sell you ANY of the MK3 sheets. I've tried repeatedly and the answer is always no!

Be sure to follow up if you get one my interest is piqued but not enough to consider purchasing one, maybe at $50 out the door but that's about my upper limit as reviews for their other products on Amazon on generally in the 3 star range.
Re: Powdercoated Spring steel sheets
It appears the solution to their stencil issue is to put the stencil on after the powder coating...or just leave it off. The machine itself says Prusa all over it, so there is no doubt what it is.

I'm kind of curious about this as my understanding is that they use the powder coated build sheets in their print farm. I would guess they would have had some idea about scaling production based on experience. I do have to say I like the look of the first layer on the Prusa printed parts.
Re: Powdercoated Spring steel sheets
When this thread came up I found this on amazon.
The cost is almost three times what Prusa is advertising.

Re: Powdercoated Spring steel sheets
Since i'm making my own printers from scratch, i cannot get any PEI sheets from the Prusa shop as well.
I decided to make my own sheets, and they cost about 15$ per piece total and they work well.
1mm steel plate from the internet, and the PEI sticker from Prusa's shop
Granted, it's not flex steel, so the amount i can bend this plate is very limited until it gets permanently bent, but twisting it about 1-2 degrees is necessary to make the print pop off the plate. The normal steel plate survives this without a problem.

If you truly want a spring steel sheet, (flex plate in BT lingo) you can purchase from Build-Tak for 25 plus shipping 10% less if you have an academic ID. The sheet is quite nice but the edges definitely need polished prior to placing on your heated bed.
Re: Powdercoated Spring steel sheets
My PEI ripped off on the second print. Was printing the PSU support for the Lack enclosure with PETG. I followed his instructions exactly. First layer cal was down with Prusa PLA, did not use any cleaners/water/or alcohol. Bed was left to cool before removal which was according to instruction.
Sent an message to this guy, he says they are working on a version 2 and was good about making it right. So we will see how this V2 performs.
