Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet

They took my Amex without issue, for what that's worth.

Is there a way to put in an order on a waiting list for one of these sheets? I just went and ordered mine with the PEI sheet, but I'd like to get one of these if I can. Even if it takes 3 years to actually happen.

There is no waiting list and these have never been offered for sale. We do live in hopes that one day it will happen and we can actually buy them.

If the experience with the smooth PEI stickered sheets is any indication, they'll show up on the e-store page and can be ordered then. You'll go into the queue at that point.

Once the stickered sheets did show up, there wasn't a recurring supply issue. Hopefully they'll get production ramped up to where this becomes a non-issue.

I hope you are right, but if the waiting list is any indication, we are still 3-8 months from that date. Then again, who knows how they are filling orders.

I'm hoping that having moved production in-house will start to accelerate output to where the historical data won't mean much.

Then again, I'm half expecting someone to come out with a textured PEI sticker that will render them obsolete. I was surprised how well textured vinyl works with PLA. Unfortunately, only PLA.

Painters tape works well too. Just need to find larger squares and be prepared to replace every few prints.

That is absolutely true and very low tech / cheap.

Quick update:

I've received my 'voucher' (a personalised URL link that takes the user to a pre filled Prusa shopping cart including the 'Double-sided Textured PEI Powder-coated Spring Steel Sheet (EARLY MK3 OWNERS)'. Given previous experience coupled with delivery dates in the Prusa email I expect delivery within 1-3 weeks. For reference I ordered my Prusa i3 MK3 on 21/02/2018, so it will only have been a 14 month wait come delivery.

Looking forward to finally getting my hands on it.

Congratuations... Where in the world are you... I ordered mine on the 31/10/17 and am still waiting for my voucher, so its very odd that they are issuing vouchers out of order..

Hi jweaver. I'm based in the UK.

Sorry to hear you're still waiting for the voucher. I don't want to cause any concern but that does seem a little off as I had gotten the impression many of the 2017 adopters had been sent their vouchers now.

Maybe give Prusa Research an email, just to give them a nudge if nothing else. I definitely think you've waited long enough! I hope you get your voucher real soon.

I am in the UK.. It is odd for sure.. I have contacted them several times and they keep telling me that "I am in the next batch"... I wrote again today and they told me that in 2 weeks, all of the vouchers will have been sent out.. So it seems they believe they are at the end of the backlog now.

So i will give them 2 more weeks and then ask again.... One day I might get mine.. I am pretty confident of that...

I'm really unhappy with the way Prusa Research deal with customer service and fulfilment stuff like this. Their products are usually very good but getting our hands on them can be a real test of patience. 🙁 Sorry you've had to wait as long as you have! Fingers crossed they send you your voucher soon.

Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet

I ordered my MK3 on 8 February 2018 and it shipped on 5 April 2018 without the powder coated sheet.

I received my emailed voucher (custom URL) on 4 April 2019 (almost 12 month exactly from shipping date) and ordered it straight away. I am now waiting for it to ship. And for the record I am based in Australia so if they are posting countries in bulk lots I might have a long wait!

I am not sure why I would have received my voucher before others who purchased their MK3 before me?

Re: Powder Coated PEI Steel Sheet

I received the notification email on April 3rd (was stuck in my spam filter) and ordered it today. Total cost to me roughly $15. Glad I waited before pulling the trigger on more expensive alternatives.

My Prusa Mk3 was ordered the 1st week of January 2018 and delivered in late March. Looks like the sheet trailed the printer by almost exactly 1 year. It does look like they're starting to close the gap on production. Fingers crossed!

Probably a good thing. I am on my third week of the V4 more expensive alternative. It is printing as well the the Original.

Apparently they have caught up quite a bit or are confident they will; JP himself says they are sending the last 1600 vouchers this week.

~11 minutes in:

And it sounds like regular sale is not too far off after that...

Great news. Bet they sell out quickly. Let the hoarding begin.

I'm hoping the way they handled the stickered PEI sheets is an indicator. When they 1st showed on the store, I ordered one immediately. They did sell out, but had them back in stock within a week and seem to have maintained inventory since. At the time, this was the only option for a replacement bed, so I suspect they were under even more demand than the PC sheet.

Will be interesting to see if powder-coated beds have turned into the tulip-craze of the 3D printing crowd. People going crazy fighting for them, selling in eBay for 10X value, other suppliers entering the market trying to cash in, only to have them turn out to the the $25 PC bed they started out as. If Prusa catches up, I wonder how soon it'll be before the others drop their prices to compete.

The other suppliers a're going to have quite a challenge if they want to continue matching it exactly; it'll be hard to be as cost-effective with any third party supplier/contract manufacturer vs PR making their own in-house now.
