Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
Outside of durability, I do not see a large improvement with the powder coated over PEI sticker sheet. It might make you feel better about waiting.

Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
The only real benefits I have found are durability, my prints stick a little better, and it makes a non-smooth surface so it is easier to glue things together.
Downside is it needs cleaned a LOT more in order for anything to stick to it.

I just want mine for the textured bottom. Certain prints look nicer without the pefectly smooth first layer.
I also want mine because it was promised when the MK3 was first announced and its one of the reasons I bought a Prusa over other printers.
But I don't really mind the wait... Ending up with BOTH (PEI and PC) surface will be nice... I just wish we had some news as to how much longer it will be.

I agree.

but you can already... you can use painter's tape for less smooth bottom, add buildtak/lokbuild which gives a finer but still textured bottom that looks cool. from the prints i've seen on powder coated they seem "over" textured. the bumps are too deep imo, should be 1/2 that and it would be really nice. outside of that 5 seconds with sandpaper will make the bottom less shiny/smooth.

Using that argument.. i could go out and buy another printer.. I don't want to buy OEM plates and make my own print surfaces.. I went for the Prusa as they developed surfaces that they wanted us to use.
And I am delighted with the PEI sheet/surface they provide.. But I am also looking forwards to getting the PC sheet at the discounted price which they promised, as/when ready.
I just don't want to get into this whole 3rd party thing, when there will be an "official" option available, which is not only cheaper (I could be wrong) but will also have a discount applied...
As I said, I don't have a gripe with Prusa, other than I wish they could be more open about how (and when) the early adopters like me might get their hands on the fabled PC sheet.

On the blue tape: you can buy sheets that work very well.

Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
The question is in response to hopefully finally getting the Powder Coated sheet for a existing printer that was shipped sans PC sheet.
Supposedly there were vouchers for those of us that got substituted.
Checking to see if those had gone out yet, because I have not seen anything yet, and on my account there is no way to order the PC sheets.
if you order a kit with the smooth sheet it ships in about 3 days
if you order a kit with the powder coated sheet it is shipping in about 3 weeks it says.
I ordered my kit at the end of August with the powder coated sheet and I received it September 24th
I suspect that the lead-time is a variable that grows and shrinks a bit, and as the supply of sheets that pass Prusa QC when they get them in from the manufacturer also fluctuates depending on the quality of the latest batch. I get the feeling that passing the strict Prusa QC has been a bottleneck ... the other variable is the % of kit orders that decide to wait 3 weeks for the powder coated sheet option (and I expect that those that order an assembled printer are at the top of the priory list for them ( I did see a comment on one of the facebook groups last month that someone in the USA had ordered an assembled printer with powder coated sheet on a Monday and was printing on it that Thursday.)
Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
Still waiting here for two vouchers to buy two PC sheets. Over a year since my Mk3 preorder, probably approaching that for the Mk2.5 conversion preorder. I am so enjoying seeing all these new users posting pics of their shiny new printers with their PC sheets.
It's beginning to look like Prusa are never going to be able to fulfil their promises on these sheets, and those who ordered printers and kits which included them are going to be left out of the party. Before anyone mentions it I know Prusa shipped an alternative which probably cost them more to produce but that was their chosen way of getting out of the hole they had dug for themselves.
In September 2017 I ordered a Mk3 printer with a powder coated bed which was touted as a major feature. I did the same in October 2017 with a Mk2.5 conversion which also included this game changing sheet. I am still waiting for the opportunity to purchase these from Prusa.
This situation has been a major consideration in why I cancelled and got a refund of my preorder for an SL1, and also why for the first time in around fifteen months I have nothing on back order with Prusa Research.
Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
Yep... Just came back after a month hiatus to see if I could use my PC voucher for the printer I ordered a year ago. Still waiting....
The SLA looks fun, but I think I am done being a beta tester at my own expense. I can beta test for Shenzhen companies and not have to pay quite as much.

but good luck getting support from those "Shenzhen" companies. Prusa has been exceptional with supporting my printer. So much so that when I was at the end of my rope with fixing my printer they sent me a shipping label and I shipped the kit build version back for repair.
I've been disappointed with the powder coated sheets but at the end of the day I still have a functional device.

With the quality or the delay?

Delay. I'm in the same boat as you. My order is a year old.

I hope they still plan to deliver by the end of October.

Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
It sounded like the plan was to get to the point where they would sell the PC sheets in the store, AND THEN start issuing vouchers for people who got substituted.
At this point I’m hoping when the time comes they offer purchases to us first, and then open the floodgates to people who just want spares. Because I know it will be like Prusament, as soon as the orders open there will be a huge backlog.

I would agree with that and I own one. I think they will be quickly be sold out.

Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
I was expecting that to be a problem when they finally had put the double-sided PEI stickered sheets up on the e-store. I spotted it and quickly pounced after running for months with no backup. I thought they'd be sold-out. I've only seen them actually out-of-stock a handful of times since.
[...] I would agree with that and I own one. I think they will be quickly be sold out.
Of course supplies of the powder-coated beds aren't as predictable so there may not be any correlation between the availability of the two parts, but I found Prusa's ability to maintain stock on a high-demand item encouraging.

Re: Powder Coated PEI Sheets: NOW SHIPPING
I hope you are right. I would really like to see them add some of the stuff on their store to Amazon - to include the beds.
