Ordering a powder coated plate?

Hi,

I’m about to order a MK3 - will it be possible to purchase the powder coated plate in the future, once the current backlog is cleared?

Thanks,

Paul

Re: Ordering a powder coated plate?

Hi Paul, I believe the powder coated buildplates are on hold for new orders as you have noticed.

Prusa have decided to resolve the issues around outstanding orders, before resuming general release.

some folk (Like me) have been waiting over 12 months for the Powder coated build plate that they thought they were getting with their mk3 printers.

Prusa have been let down by their suppliers production quality, which is why there is a backlog, and they have upset some customers with the way they have handled the release of build plates, to date. (Prusa have, to the best of my knowledge, done their best to resolve this issue amicably, however the expected improvements in supply, don't seem to have been realised. which is no doubt very upsetting to Prusa research as well as the affected customers!)

I have 3 PEI stickered buildplates,
one was supplied with my Mk3 printer to prevent delay in shipment, I have been using it for ages, it's starting to show wear, but I am still using the first side... so for a consumable item, it's holding up well...
another was supplied with my Mk2.5 upgrade, again, this was to prevent delay in shipment,
and the third was bought after they put the stickered sheets up for general release on the shop page... (this is currently clipped on to my Mk2MMUv1 heatbed using 'Swiss Clips' and so far it has performed well eve without the Magnetic Bed...)

So I would suggest that you get your printer as soon as possible, with the stickered build plate, and enjoy using the printer whilst you wait for the powder coated build plate to become available.

regards Joan
