seems like i'm the minority here, but 150b is a step backwards for me, layer shifting almost immediately compared to 143e which was fine.

Hi All, I have a question, With all the info from this post and from the printer manual, and user feedback, I'm kind of all over the place and I'm wondering are all of Octopi's functions working with this 3d printer? or place the pie in its static bag and wait? I still have a few more weeks till the unit gets shipped ( new to 3d printing).
First time builder here and new to 3d printing. With the instructions posted above, getting the Pi Zero W loaded up with Octopi and working was very straightforward. I think with RC5, Octopi is working just fine or at least well enough to not worry about it.
There is a bit of a chicken and egg issue if you don't have a 3d printer yet, but I suggest printing an enclosure with access to the Pi so that you can more easily plug/unplug the camera or pull the SD card out. I think it should be a std feature on the mk3.

Mk3, f/w RC5, printing direct from SD (Flashair), layer shift halfway through a nine hour print. First layer shift I've ever had from a Prusa machine in 8 months of use. 🙁

I also experienced my first layer shift. Printing from SD, crash detection was on, RC5 FW. I was printing Adalinda with 0.1mm layer, so it was approx. 16 hour print. Somewhere in the middle was small layer shift - i'd say around 1mm to the rear. I can't say if it was because of detected crash or not because i don't know number of crashes before this print.
Other than that Adalinda came out perfect.
Now i disabled crash detection - i hope this was the fault...

I have been runnning the RC5 firmware for several days now, and got the RPi camera working yesterday. Everything relating to Octoprint has been working perfectly for me on the last 2 firmwares. I have even loaded Octoprint up with several plugins. The only performance difference I see between the Pi Zero and a Pi3 is the boot time, but that really isn't an issue.
It is worth noting that the detailed instructions I laid out in my "Rpi Zero & Octopi" post can be mostly skipped by just using the Prusa supplied OctoPi image: https://www.prusa3d.com/downloads/others/prusaprintv1.zip
The only setting I have disabled is the filament sensor. It can be a bit hit or miss and pause prints randomly.
Cross my fingers, I haven't had a layer shift in weeks, and at a point it was really bad. The linear advancement and acceleration changes, seem to have made all the difference. I made Jo's recommended acceleration changes in Slicer PE, but also use Prusa Control regularly on simple stuff and have no issues there either. I am using Octoprint for almost everything now. It still doesn't seem to know how to handle M600 filament change commands.

Thanks for the response, once the printer is working I will have a few prints, then try octopi, most definitely will print any upgrades for the unit. Are you ladies/gents using the Octopi image from its main site or the "Prusa version"?

Is there an Octopi release for Prusa? I was sure I read something about this, but can't find anything... Or do we just use the standard build on the Octopi website?

successfully have been printing directly through octoprint since the latest firmware release(rc5 b150), and not a single failure. great work!

You still need to do the basic setup for wi-fi, which is going to apply regardless. But all the hacking to change the serial ports and such is already done for you.

PR has built an image that is preconfigured, but has only been linked to in the forum. They really should add it to the support page, although it would only work for the MK3. The file is available here: https://www.prusa3d.com/downloads/others/prusaprintv1.zip
If you opt to use the stock image from the Octopi site, you will need to go through the steps I outlined here: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-f30/rpi-zero-octopi-working--t12432.html
Best I can tell, they both get you to the same result, but their image is much easier to deal with. Once it was released, I immediately switched to it, with no problems.

When you say “their image” do you mean Prusa or Octopi?
I assuming you mean the Prusas image is easier to deal with but wanted to check.

not sure this qualifies as a tip but here's the info.
I just set up the Prusa image of octo pi
one thing I noticed the access control is disabled. If your planning to have the Pi accessed from the net or a shared network, some control should be used.
Unless Prusa can resend the image file with the user wizard enabled here's the steps I learned a few mins ago.
just want to help anyone that wants to enable it. here the info.

assuming you already followed the online guides to have octopi on the sd card
you can download it here www.putty.org
to start open putty place your octopi IP address
enter your login: pi
password: raspberry
(if it's still the default)
type in " sudo service octoprint stop "
then enter this to edit the config.yaml file
"nano ~/.octoprint/config.yaml"
use the cursor arrow keys to move around to the sections and rewrite the word false with true from access control and under server first run
accessControl:
enabled: true
server:
firstRun: true
then press and hold your control key followed by the " X" key
it will ask you to save yes or no press " Y"
then the enter key.
one last command in the terminal
you need to restart the service
"sudo service octoprint restart"
after that close your putty and reconnect using your browser hit refresh and the wizard will start up with all remaining settings intact.

Correct, the Prusa provided image is much easier to setup.

I have the latest firmware version and octopi version running, first print.
Already 1 power fail detected (what the hell)? and 2 crashes, in a simple 1 hour benchy print.
No issues before that printing right from SD card.
I think Im going to switch to SD card again for now...
Octopi is running without any problems btw.

As for the pi, if you're not using the accessory port then things are 100000x easier:
-flash image onto sdcard
-edit octopi-network.txt with wifi password

what do you mean by that ? How should I connect the PI? He is still connected via the external USB-B port?
