Noise from right Z-Stepper when printer idle
Hi all,
is there a way to reduce the noise the Z-Stepper is making while on idle? I read, that even on idle the stepper is still "active" to hold the current Z axis position. But unfortunately, it realy makes a loud noise, as if a fan is running all the time.
Best regards, Joachim

Which version firmware is installed? You might want to ensure you have 3.6.0+ ...
RE: Noise from right Z-Stepper when printer idle
Hi tim,
Firmware is 3.7.0 but noise is still there.
Is this "noise" thing a known issue, or am i the only one mentioning this?
Would it be helpful if i try to make a audio/video of it?
Joachim

If your noise is the same noise I am aware of - it is the TMC drivers providing holding current to the motors. While 3.6+ tries driving the motors at a higher frequency then 3.7.1 reduces frequency for thermal reasons - all are above human hearing - subharmonics still rattle around and make noise. It is unavoidable and will vary by motor mechanical differences that show up during manufacturing. You might try relaxing a few screws around the motor and re-torquing - it may change the characteristics of the noise a bit.
