Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
It's all about managing expectations: I was one of the first to order the MK3s upgrade on Feb 13. After chatting they promised shipment in the 1st week of March, which I already though was kinda late. Now it is already "6 weeks" according to the support guys and to the info list, and actually I'm sure I will not even get it in April. Same old same old; the steel coated PEI will never come and the filaments you need are never ever in stock. Luckily for those I found an excellent replacement now in SunLu. Now I think of it, I'm starting to hunt for the upgrade parts separately.

Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
Ordered 2/12 and received it yesterday.
Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
what goes up, must come down, and one day something better will come along from another company that respects their word. They have to stop selling what they cannot produce. It creates bitterness and resentment . Only fanboys will just sit and make excuses for the company. But in the end, everyone has their last straw moment, prusa thinks we will just sit like idiots waiting for their stuff while our money sits in their accounts.
i would be less upset if they only charged my credit card once my item shipped, like every other reputable company does when they have a backorder?
Go ahead and open your own company which is offering better/similar product for better/similar price offering better service and not taking any money upfront. Would be interesting to see how you want to pay all the daily bills waiting for part X to get available from the manufacturer so you can finally bill your customer.
Understanding behind the scene processes doesn't make everybody to fanboys.
BTW: Waiting always sucks.

Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
I'm a relatively new MK3 owner, ordered 10th November and got my kit at the start of December, I actually didn't get to build it until after christmas as it was a gift from my wife. I ordered the self print upgrade kit on release day and got it in today so I don't think there is a VIP queue, at least not one that I would possibly qualify for, just luck of the draw I guess.
Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
Ordered on the 13th as well, no movement as of yet.

Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
Just wanted to let all the fellas awaiting their MK3S upgrade know that mine purchased on Feb 15th @ 20:00 CET (WITH voucher) has been shipped today.

And here is my proof that its not first come first served. Its some weird prusa-decides when for different people shipping logic.
I ordered 13th, and they told me First week of March at earliest, other guy uses voucher on 15th, and its shipped today.
THATS why i refuse to buy from Prusa anymore.
Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
certainly it could benefit from clarity on their part, but there may be geographical restrictions and/or volume considerations that cause these sorts of things. Just something to consider as an explanation.
For example they have a volume rate with the carriers for (say) 20 cubic meters of boxes per day to a given geographic location (so the carrier can allot for that in their planning and get shipments there on time without undue delay/backlog). If that allowable volume is full, they would incur steep additional fees if they shipped more that day. But they also use multiple carriers depending on geography. So someone that uses a different shipment carrier and/or lives elsewhere might see their 3S order shipped before someone in a high demand area, where the average volume going to their region is lower. Or maybe one region has more full printers and kits than another, so they can ship fewer individual items in the same volume.
Certainly that doesn't excuse them from not at least offering an explanation. It may not be practical for them to up their daily volume without incurring significant additional fees, or their rate may be locked in because of a long duration contract that fits their average daily shipments. So while it may seem "easy to fix", there is almost certainly more to consider.

I ordered two self print kits at 10:26am CET on the 13th. Chat tells me "at least the 2nd week of March". I have two sets of extruder parts printed and gathering dust here.
Perhaps I expect too much, but this kind of thing is really taking the fun out of this hobby for me.
Re: MK3S upgrade backordered?
I ordered mine on 2/16, still nothing. I did so having a great deal of experience with PR and with the expectation they would arrive around May.
My order was completely funded by powdered bed vouchers. I received 16 x $30 vouchers when Prusa announced it. To my surprise, the vouchers had expired and were no longer valid when PR announced the MK3S upgrade. Fearing the worst, I contacted PR via chat and the vouchers were renewed within 10 minutes (the 10 minutes was eaten waiting in the chat queue).
I have 15 x MK3, 1 x MK2.5 w/ MM, so I ordered 16 MK3S upgrade (print my own) kits to update my Prusa farm. Keep in mind, this was free with the exception of the shipping. I don't know of any outfit/company that would let me get away with this, let alone offer me a free upgrade on the MM2 that I have yet to unbox. 4 of the MK3s are still in boxes awaiting this upgrade, but business is slow so I can wait this time.
We all have to realize, unless you're willing to take on Prusa and beat him at his own game (impossible in USA without cheaping out on the parts, I've looked into it) then we all must "go along to get along" and help PR any way we can. If they want to take money first and backorder afterwards, I'm OK with it so long as PR is enabled to keep rolling out free firmware and printed upgrades. They have to keep the lights on with a massive payroll and factory. If this is how they do it, so be it.
