MK2/S to MK3 Upgrade

Once all the bugs get worked out and the lead time is reasonable I will upgrade my MK2S to the MK3, but rather than using the included filament, I have already printed my parts using my own green PETG. So why not give customers the option of adding filament to the upgrade package rather than forcing it on them? This will lower the cost of the upgrade, also save a considerable amount on shipping too (which is already overpriced!) Not everybody wants orange or all black... 💡

edit: misread your post

There's nothing stopping you from just ordering the individual parts from the shop. 7$ worth of filament on a 500$ kit isn't really a big deal.

Just finished printing all the non black upgrade parts. I didn't want orange or black!

LOL, it's NOT ORANGE! I call it antifreeze green...
Prusa really needs to offer more colors!

Hi Randy,

I'm wandering why not second printer instead for $749? If money is an issue, you could even sell your old MK2S for $300-$400. Would be still cheaper then $500 upgrade.

Because I have other plans for my old printer parts. 😀

Yeah when I first ran across it I said right then and there I didn't care what it cost or what the reviews said, I wanted it for the color! (turns out it had great reviews and is cheaper than most other brands that I normally use)

Made by Yoyi. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M6WENG6

Going to look amazing with everything else being black!

Check out this post that shows completely untouched parts still on the printer, and the settings that I used (first time with this filament and just guessing at the settings) Has very slight stringing which I hear is normal for PETG. I used a heat gun to instantly remove all the strings from each part. https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/how-do-i-print-this-printing-help--f63/recommended-petg-settings-for-mk3-parts-t17676-s10.html (page 2)

Yeah, copolyesters tend to do that. I've printed with eSUN PETG and ColorFabb nGen a fair bit and that's about the level of stringing that I'd expect from them. Another common issue is that they have a tendency to ooze, but as far as I can tell you've got retraction dialed in perfectly.

I need to start printing V2 parts for my MK3 at some point. I'm kind of thinking of using purple PETG just so I can start calling it the Purple Prusa. 😛
