"mintemp" Error - Please Help
If this is in the wrong forum, I apologize.
I have had my Prusa MK3S for several months and literally have run it almost 24/7. It has been perfect, even though I am NOT a technologically sound person, until a print globbed up the hotend once and I damaged the thermister cable cleaning it up resulting in a "mintemp" error. I ordered a new thermister cable and replaced it, but the error continues. So I ordered another thermister cable and replaced it again. I still get a "mintemp" error. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

First, let's check the obvious:
Is your workshop cold?
Mintemp is a warning that the printer 'thinks' the ambient temperature is too low to print without warping. If the ambient temperature is around 15 deg C or lower then you need to heat the workspace or move the printer. If ambient is higher than about 17 deg C then you do have a hardware problem.
Cheerio,

What temp does it show on the lcd display? When the printer is cooled down both bed and hotend should show about the same temp.
There is more info on that error here: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/mintemp-error-and-mintemp-bed_2169
You could try as a test to swap the bed and hotend thermistors on the Einsy board. If the error changes to "mintemp bed" you have a thermistor problem.
If it doesn't change, you have a board problem. There is a post on these forums that has a fix for the board(if you are lucky)

Lower temperatures can lead to Min Temp errors.

I have read that. Thanks. The room is about 70F. So that should not be the issue.
RE: "mintemp" Error - Please Help
@baklin
The ICD temp reads ZERO. I had assumed that meant the thermister was the issue. I will check that link. Thanks.

An easy check is if the bed temp is non-zero, then swap the connectors at the einsy. Plug the bed into the nozzle spot, the nozzle into the bed spot. If nozzle still shows zero and bed still shows a valid temp - the thermistors are probably good and something has happened on the einsy.
ps: Do the unplug-plug operation with power off ... the einsy side of things is spark and static sensitive.
RE: "mintemp" Error - Please Help
Check the connections. Do you have a multimeter? Check the resistance: open circuit suggests a broken cable or connector. closed suggests a faulty part. If you get a reading, report it here.
Try the temporary swap suggested by @baklin and @tim-2.
Is your printer still within the two year warranty period?

If you have a reading of zero on the bed or hotend thermistor on your screen, you have a bad thermistor. Swap the cables between them on the einsy and if the zero moves to the other - that is confimarion.

Thanks. I did as you suggested. The nozzle temp reads 0/0 and the bed temp reads 23/0 when it is wired correctly and when I reverse them. So I guess it is the einsy which makes sense because I have ordered and installed TWO replacement thermister cables. So with an einsy problem do I need to order an entire new einsy?
RE: "mintemp" Error - Please Help
@diem
Thanks. I do not have a multimeter. But swapping the cables seems to indicate the thermister is good. And I AM within the 2 year warranty period. Is the einsy covered?
RE: "mintemp" Error - Please Help
@dork1522
So do I understand that you have 23 on the bed and 0 on the hotend and when you switched them you have 23 on the hotend and 0 on the bed?
If this is true, I do not think it is the Einsy.

@cwbullet
No. I have 0 on the hotend and 23 on the bed with BOTH the correct AND switched wirings.
RE: "mintemp" Error - Please Help
is it possible that you short circuited the 24 volt heater connections to the thermistor which has a 0 volt connection and a signal input of less than 5 volts.
doing so, would make the Einsy controller extruder thermistor port, somewhat unhappy....
Prusa chat should be able to advise whether the einsy is covered by warrantee.

@joantabb
I'm sure that is possible as I am the LEAST technically competent person I know. This is evidenced by the fact that I have no idea what your are even talking about. I bought and assembled a Prusa because I heard it was quite friendly to the technically challenged. Is there a way to check the heater connections?

With the clarification, I think your einsy is fried and they can help you.

Generally you replace the board.
A failure in the thermistor circuit is odd and rare, but, you are proof it happens. An Einsy can be repaired, but the cost of repair is pretty close to the cost of a replacement: sometimes more. And then there's the issue of finding someone willing to repair it who won't do even more damage.
RE: "mintemp" Error - Please Help
Replacing the board is so simple that even I can do it.
