Re: Many new printed parts on GitHub

Has anyone upgraded the X ends and Z mounts only? Or is there some benefit to upgrading the X-Carriage that I'm missing? As an FYI I upgraded my X ends and Z mounts and noticed a big improvement in sound, though print quality seems roughly the same. I just can't see what would be gained by going through all of the trouble to replace the X Carriage.

I've only done the X ends and Z mounts. X-carriage is not really any different other than the belt attachment. I would not waste your time.

Thanks for confirming my thoughts I couldn't see any real difference and was thinking the change had more to do with the way the belt teeth don't stay locked when over tensioned but thought there might also be alignment tweaks I was overlooking. In any event it just seems like to much work for too little, if any, gain to change the X-Carriage out. I'll replace it if or when I have to tear into the extruder but for now it's staying put.

In my case I was having the belt rubbing and twisting problem. Black 'dust' everywhere. I replaced the mounts and the x-carriage and have been printing for several weeks now without a single spec of dust and no twisting or flexing. Not sure if it is a result of replacing all parts but since I had to remove the belt anyway I decided to do the carriage.

Note that I did not change the x-carriage back as the wires all run through there and I did not want to unplug/re-plug those wires. From what I understand about their sensitivity to movement I only want to do that when necessary and the R1 back is equivalent to the R2 back.
