Leaky hot end
Hi all,
I had posted about the problem some months ago when I was getting burned blobs appearing on my prints, so I replaced my leaky hot end today with a new one from the factory. The hot end I removed was factory new with the printer and about 2 years old. It has never had anything altered on it other then the recommended cold pull with PLA
Is there anything I can do to re-furbish this? I have a spare metal insert and nozzle I got with the replacement hot end ( not in the pictures ). Is it worthwhile re-furbishing?
RE: Leaky hot end
I don't know… I for one wouldn't bother "refurbishing" the hotend, or at least not the heater block. I'd buy a new one, perhaps nickel-plated copper. Cheaper than the time I'd spent cleaning the heater block. But if the nozzle is still good, maybe I'd try to salvage it. But then again, after 2 years of use, I'd be more likely to toss it and get a better one, again plated copper or—gasp—tungsten carbide. You'll never need another nozzle and can print abrasive materials no problem.

RE: Leaky hot end
Thanks fuchsr - Yes, I thought so and it is replaced already. If it was retrievable, I could have replaced the insert and the nozzle and had a spare one for 'just-in-case' moments. - Harley
