Large spool filament sources

I've been using my MK3S printers for a business, and I'm getting tired of changing the filament all the time.  Could anyone recommend a source of large PLA or PETG spools?  Quality is important--one bad print costs more in labour than five prints worth of filament.  Colours don't really matter.  Shipping to USA.

Thanks!

Maybe so.  Those are definitely big spools.  Not sure I'd want to try anything that large.  One of my printers has the MMU2S on it and I worry about loading issues with a 1kg fresh spool.

No vacation; just recovering from a vaccine.  I bought this one:

I have a bar mounted above the printers, so I'm not worried about the load.  The greater distance means less chance of catching the filament on the spool sides, too.

Thanks!

I haven't actually used it yet.  I like the spool geometry though; nothing to catch the filament on, like prusament does.  Also, it shipped with a bag of gummy bears.

@rachel

NICE!

I've got a few spools that are getting on the low side and I was just curious if I should give them a shot.  I might anyway next time I reorder.

Thanks!

What was the gummy bear to filament ratio, this could be a deal breaker 😉

well any at is more than any other filament I've bought so I'd say it's a win win!

We use ColorFabb Economy PLA extensively (more than 100kg so far and counting).  We have found it to be about the most reliable of all the filaments we have tried in the production facility, and it's also one of the cheapest filaments per unit weight.  Unfortunately it's only available in a very limited range of colours, but otherwise it's perfect for high volume printing.

One thing I've found with all the larger spools is they are pound for pound more expensive than the 1kg spools. I don't quite understand the pricing structure they use. Maybe they think not changing spools as often is worth a 25% premium. e.g., ColorFabb economy is still $20 a kilo when you buy 8 kilo spools -- probably the best 'discount' I've found.

@tim-2

In general, maybe.  Atomic Filaments appears to be cheaper.
