How to prevent smudging after changing colors

After a batch of Black ABS prints, I switched to white PLA.
How do you properly clean the nozzle as I keep getting black smudging in my white prints.

Got it sorted by printing the white PLA with ABS temperatures for a while, this cleaned out the remaining black ABS.

Hi Alfred,
to a great extent it depends where the smudges are coming from
Is the outside of the nozzle clean? I use a brass brush to clean the nozzle whilst hot
are you getting filament leakage out of the extruder screw threads, if to sort the nozzle to heatbreak joint and clean the filament off the top  and sides of the heatblock.

remove the black ABS and do some cold pulls with a light colour filament.

consider using some cleaner filament

the article below was put out by Rigid Ink, who used to make filaments. I think they have stopped, but the info is good, it discusses 'Cold Pulls and the Atomic Method' which may interest you, as well as cleaner filament
