Frustrating day with my printer.
I haven't used my printer much lately but I found a project that got my interest. Noticed that it must have been detecting a crash, then I got worse with layer shifts.
Last night I realized that I had a leak. The filament was dripping on the part, hardening up, and the nozzle would crash.
Today after reading about hot end maintenance, I decided to tighten things up. I found that my nozzle didn't have any clearance. Managed to turn the body inward so there is a gap between the heat block and nozzle now. I put a new .4mm nozzle while I was at it. I've had this MK3 since October of 2020, it has been fairly trouble free.
Then I ran the calibration wizard followed by doing a first layer calibration. I kept having problems getting good adhesion. It would stick going the long way (l to r) but it would loose adhesion when the bed indexed away from me. I got it as good as I could and started a print job. First layer wasn't perfect but so far I'm not hearing nozzle strikes.
I cleaned the smooth powder coat each time with windex, normally that does it. I do have a brand new smooth plate but I've kept it in reserve for when I think the original plate has wore out.
Really frustrated, this printer is normally easy peasy, low effort and now it is being difficult.
