RE: FlasAir

what ever you get, be aware that 32GB is the max compatible capacity.

Both of my Flashair cards are w04. One is a 16gb and the other is a 32gb.

I am using the W-04 Flashair without any issues. You I was able to write a custom config file *you just place it on the base directory of the card* it connects to my wifi and then I mount it as normal via IP Address on my PC.

Mine (W-04, 32GB) isn´t working, too. 🙁

Which settings do you use?

Could you be kind enough to look at mine, below and tell me if/where I have gone wrong please.

This is on one of my printers and works for me.  You will of course need to update the details for your home network.

RE: FlasAir

So, after 5 hours of playing yesterday... i decided i was going to start over today. Not sure what i missed between yesterday and today.. but i got it working within about 15 mins. So for those having trouble doing "map network drive" in windows 10... i tried an alternate method that im not really sure what the difference is, but it worked perfectly for me. i just did "add a network location" and put the ip address of the card in and boom worked perfectly. Still cant figure out how to "map network drive". But they both seemingly do the same thing.

as a note..
Printer mk3s

w-04 64 gb... HUGE SIDE NOTE... and not sure whether or not this helped getting it working.. but yesterday i reformatted it into fat32

Hi

What capacity has the SD card after formatting to FAT32? Microsoft has set a 32GB partition size limit for the FAT/FAT32 file system, just wondering if the capacity is now limited?

There are other tools to format drives that don't enforce a new, stupid, arbitrary limitation...

RE: FlasAir

I found that the network range on the card was really poor, with all other wireless devices showing 3bars+ of wifi signal the w-04 refused to connect to the network, had to move it into the same room as the router to get it to connect properly and consistently.

RE: FlasAir

Don't wish to worry you, but there are fakes of this card about which have poor wi-fi range.

I have a 32GB W-04 and it connects to my AP through two walls and a floor a distance of approx 8m straight line without any issues.

Just for anyone else reading this thread, something I discovered which took me a couple of days of frustration and cursing when I first got this card.

When you make a change to a config setting, cycle the power on the printer or hit reset on the LCD panel rather than just put the card in the slot and hope it works as it won't use the new settings unless the printer is re-booted. I very nearly sent the card back as defective!.

Also, you have to have a folder on the root of the card, I call mine GCODE, you cannot send files direct to the root of the card.

I now right click the gcode file I want to print and send to.. where the SD card link is mapped to the folder GCODE on the flashair card. (Windows)

RE: FlasAir

You can see from my setup listed above that I dont have an upload directory and I can write files to the card root and print from there without issue.  Although I do agree that adding a directory or multiples makes sense to keep things organized.

The reason I know the root directory works is that I also have a Cr10S and the stock firmware on that printer will ONLY print gcode stored in the root of the sdcard (rubbish I know) so I had to get it working for that printer.

RE: FlasAir

Are you by any chance using a MAC or linux machine?, because with Windows 10 I could not get this to work without specifying a directory in UPDIR.

Trying UPDIR=/   just caused unable to connect or write errors or something like that (It was a while ago now, so can't fully remember).

From reading many posts about this, I also remember that on the 03 version UPDIR=/ would work, but not so with this 04 version, but as to whether this is a windows problem or flashair problem, I do not know.

For anyone trying to get their card working, if UPDIR=/ works, then great, if not, try a directory path.

RE: FlasAir

Side effect of sticking everything in the root folder- your printer takes longer to boot when it sorts the SD card files... so naturally *some* regular cleanup of old files is required when doing that.

Ah, that's interesting. I've got a tree 3 levels deep with dozens of test prints for different materials and nozzle sizes. I've noticed it being a bit slow with the crawling dots starting up, but didn't make the connection. There are only 4 items in my FlashAir root, all sub-directories. Does it only sort the root, or does it go deeper?

At least in my case it sped up noticeably once I moved finished stuff to a "done" folder, and it will "sorting files..." anytime I open a subfolder for the first time.

But it might be different for the wifi cards as it needs to refresh the directory listing on more than just card insert.
