Re: Firmware 3.2.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3

Was running RC2, just updated to 3.2.0 Final and tried to print the ECOR_TOWER using the latest version of Octoprint connected via a USB cable. Was printing quite large files just fine via Octoprint prior to this update, but am getting some "Full RX Buffer" errors and the print just pauses for several seconds until starting again. Happened 3 times before I aborted the print and am now successfully printing via the SD card.

Anyone else having issues?

I also had the same problem with the same error message running from OctoPrint. I moved the ECOR_TOWER gcode to the SD card and it ran fine standalone.

I thought I'd chime in with a little detail I just learned...

When updating the firmware, make sure the new firmware is stored locally on the machine from where you want to update.

I did download the file to my NAS and wanted to update from there - cool error-messages were generated...

Only once I copied the firmware from the NAS to a local folder and updated from there - everything went fine... 🙂

Cheers,
Daniel

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3

Today I updated to 3.2.0 (3.1.3. worked fine for me).

With 3.2.0 the extruder produces a weird “noise”. It seems to me that the motor doesn’t get enough “power” anymore and can’t extrude smooth anymore. I am using a colorfabb 750g spool so nothing special that requires more pulling power. The motor temperature is about 10°C less (about 40°C) than with 3.1.3.

Long story short they obviously decreased the voltage for the stepper motor which is not working for me.

Question:
Is there a G-Code to change the stepper motor setting back to 3.1.3
or
do I have to change it in the source code and make my own build?

Hi flaviu, can you please start and issue on the GitHub? https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/issues This way you can contact the devs directly. Thanks

What did you guys do in 3.2.0?! 😀

Updated Slic3r yesterday morning, ran the configuration assistant to reset all my print profiles, upgraded my MK3 firmware to 3.2.0

Been getting consistently great prints for 2 days! Not a single bad first layer 🙂

NEW
Holding currents: M911 X16 Y20 Z35 E26
Running currents: M912 X16 Y20 Z35 E26

I believe this is the original current set:
M911 X14 Y20 Z30 E36

Keep in mind that the new currents are there to prevent the heat issue many were having. If I were to mess with currents I'd try to find the minimum current that solved the problem AND I'd only set it for the filament in question. If defaults work for other filament then that's what I'd stick to.

According to: http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code#M913:_Set_motor_percentage_of_normal_current
" M913 E30:30 ; set extruders 0 and 1 to 30% of their normal current"

Can't I just set M913 E ... to above > 100% ? E.g. M913 E120:120 ??

I believe 3.2.0 final went out with holding and running currents of 30 for the extruder (26 was used in RC2).

Just be aware of z calibration bug.

See github 3.2.0 Wizard Live-Z "Try Again" bug #732.
I ran through the z-calibaration several times and never seemed to set the actual height until I exited.

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3

*Sigh* I wish I had read this before I upgraded from 3.2.0 RC2 to this final release. I now have a scratched bed as well.

Also I had to adjust my PINDA to get it through mesh levelling and then again to get a decent Z adjust . Once I gave up with the wizard and told it to accept the silly value and ran the Z adjust from the menu and with adjusting the PINDA I finally got a decent value of -620.

However I will be contacting PRUSA support tomorrow about a replacement spring steel sheet as it is now only usable on one side.

Re: Firmware 3.2.0 for Original Prusa i3 MK3

Finished assembling the Kit a couple of days ago and did all the calibrations. Do I need to run anything after updating the firmware?

The first post in this thread does not mention the need to do anything special (besides LA correction) after the update. Looked at https://help.prusa3d.com/l/en/article/r5ByKgVm69-firmware-upgrade-and-flashing and http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/Upgrading+firmware+v1.2/66 and they also do not mention anything special.

So guys, just install update and resume printing (beside LA correction)? Do factory reset and start all over and follow the wizard? only do xyz, z calibrations and first layer?

Thanks for your help,
Gaston

PS: Is Octopi supported? Read on Facebook Prusa group to not use it with 3.2.0 since it affects the prints

I've been using octopi for months and it works just fine with 3.2.0

Not sure why people keep regurgitating problems which have already been fixed! (The facebook people, not you)

No worries John. I reread the post and I think it was my misunderstanding. https://www.facebook.com/groups/Prusai3users/permalink/928600060657809/ . I guess Chris was referring to a particular case when doing the LA calibration using Octopi?

No, they had troubles with OctoLapse, not OctoPrint (for this special calibration print). Just disable OctoLapse.
