Filament buildup detection
Every once in a while my filament globs on the head about midprint and I have to start over. It would be great if there was some form of detection on the nozzle that could detect this, then pause the printer to be cleaned.
Re: Filament buildup detection
Yes!!! I have this problem particular with PETG. I find that lowering the temperature and increasing the z-axis separation can help a bit. But, it is a bit of hit and miss. Depends a lot on the model itself and varies from build to build. Then there is the first layer adhesion ...
It would be great if you could turn on some sort of cleaning tower for this as well. In fact, it would be great if Prusa added a "cleaning station" to the MK3 so that the printer could periodically clean the print head itself. I've seen this feature in a few other printers now. The new E3D multi-tool changer comes to mind. It would be great to see Prusa's next I3 incorporate the multi-tool changer.
Re: Filament buildup detection
I replaced the heaterblock on mine with an e3d nickel plated block, no more globs. It is very resistant to globs. Also the temp stays more stable , especially when printing with polycarbonate! Its not expensive!
