E-Correct documentation or discussion?

Can anyone point me to some documentation or discussion about the e-correct feature? This pertains to fine tuning your extrusion calibration? How does one go about this?

Sorry if this is posted somewhere blatantly obvious already. I tried using the search feature with no luck.

Thx.

You have a bit of documentation here : https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/wiki/Extruder-linearity-correction-calibration

Ah, thanks for that link. Definitely enough to get started with it.

If anyone knows of any a thread containing users' results or related discussion, I'd love to see it.

Dito here. Just went through the menu after upgrading to 3.2.1 and noticed the additional option. Love the free bonus features but have no idea what setting makes the world explode 😆

I just printed the calibration tower from the github above. Since the page doesn't explain what to look for exactly, I'm assuming it's the diagonal "sheen" lines that can only be clearly seen if you print in a color like silver and hold the print in the light the right way. This e-correction factor seems to be controlling the phase of those lines.

On my tower those lines get closer together (and therefore more noticeable) as you go up the tower. The least noticeable area is definitely the bottom. So according to the instructions, that corresponds to e-correction being turned OFF. Which means this calibration setting is unhelpful for my particular printer?

I have to wonder if OFF is essentially a setting of 1.0, and max e-correct is 1.2, what happens if you go outside of that range? Would 1.3 or 1.4 make the lines so close together that they become uniform and less noticeable? Or if you go 0.9 or 0.8 do they spread out even further and become less noticeable that way? Does anyone know how to modify the g-code of the tower for values other than the intended 1.0 - 1.20?

Note: I maxxed out my e-correct setting to 1.2, then printed the tower again. I wanted to see if the tower's e-correct code would be applied on top of the printer's e-correct setting, and produce a different phase or spacing for the lines. It doesn't seem to have worked, because the two towers are identical. However the e-correct is done in the g-code must override the e-correct in the printer's settings.
