Don't Make This Dumb Mistake
I was printing this part along with several others in the same print project. Turns out that this part was the 2nd part that got its base layer printed. That's when the whole mess exploded, and I tracked it down to the filament not sticking well to the bed on this part. Talked with tech support about this and we tried several things but nothing we tried would fix the problem. Then I separated this part out so I could print it all by itself and in doing so I discovered the problem. (The part was printed as a group but I broke it down into its segments for this picture so I can describe it.) The green piece was elevated off the bed by a measly 0.1mm! I know better than to allow this but this one slipped by me and it bit me hard. So if you're printing something and you know your Z is good and yet it self destructs on the 1st layer, I guess this is the #1 thing to look for.
Re: Don't Make This Dumb Mistake
When you encounter problems like this, slice the part, save the gcode, then spend some time in preview mode looking at each layer. I've had models that had small bumps that the bottom that weren't immediately obvious. When I looked in preview mode and saw support being generated, I realized what was off.
