Can’t get good adhesion even on Z calibration
I was having issues with my first layer adhesion. I’ve cleaned the bed with hot water and rubbing alcohol, put a new nozzle on, and have been playing with the first layer height, but it peels if at the corners no matter the height. I can get it to stick with glue but I shouldn’t need to be using glue on this simple first layer.

You are right, PLA on the smooth sheet should adhere pretty strongly on it 's own, no agent needed whatsoever.
If your sheet is really really clean and you still have adhesion problems you can try to "renew" the surface by wiping it with acetone.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.
Find out why this is pinned in the general section!

^^^^^ What he said. I would add that I see streaks on your bed which tells me it could be cleaner. Very hot water, Dawn detergent, and a brand new sponge will help.

I used some some acetone to clean it, I saw a little improvement, but i still can't get my prints to stick with a lot of little turns on the bed. I'm not trying to print anything crazy, but even the supports on the base don't adhere.

I've done alot of cleaning of my bed, and still can't get it to stick.

I wash my bed with dish soap and water, PLA? Try 70C on bed

The problem with using acetone or alcohol is that it may lift the grime off the bed and redeposit it when it evaporates. A good grease breaking dish washing detergent and very, very, hot water for rinsing will bind with the grime and float it away. Alcohol can be used between prints and acetone can be used to refresh the PEI, but you need to get it really, really, clean first.

I get odd times where I get bad adhesion. Of course, clean the sheet, dry the filament. Sometimes I think a bit of filament 'gel' or something gets in the nozzle and causes the plastic to have odd flow characteristics. All the material comes out, but maybe it is 'turbulent' and doesn't lay down right. Maybe a cold pull and a good acupuncture needle up the nozzle may help. Also, it looks like you might be a smidge high? I also think that with the bed leveling, we neglect getting the bed actually flat or even at least perpendicular. That was an issue I had with my minis. Getting it square made it so that the leveling had less to work with.
And then other times, it just goes away...

It looks flat enough.. maybe your Z is even too low and it might be digging into the layers.. Really examine the underside and your plate for no little bits of grit or filament that might be throwing the bed level sensor off.. If using PLA.. dish soap and hot water is better than alcohol.. I've never had to use acetone.. Have you tried the other side of the PEI sheet to see if it works any better? I find printing a larger 1 layer square and adjusting the Z on-the-fly is better at dialing in the Z height. Hard to see by the picture what is happening... a good Z should have a pretty flat looking top ... so on one hand I think your Z is too high.. but in looking at the single lines.. they look pretty flat.. so makes me think maybe your nozzle is ploughing into plastic a bit.. but hard to tell from pic.

I have noticed you put the steel sheet wrong way (just saying, not trying to be smartass or rude here), but try liftin live z a small bit I see a lot of squeshing in the begining, squishing is normal on this print in the begining but last time I did it was much less. Also try to redoo the whole calibration process. Hope it helps.

Definitely the best solution, thank you! I used some heavy duty kitchen grease remover, hot water and soap, and prints like new again. thank you
