Basic question about heated bed temp (can't find answer online though)

My very limited knowledge of 3D printing so far is that setting the bed to 75 degrees instead of 60 for PLA (Prusament in my case), seems to reduce the likelihood of lift / warp, and makes the first layer a bit more nice and smooth.

So why is the recommended bed temp 60, and what are the reasons for not putting it too much higher than 60 or 70 for PLA?

Tried to find out the answer by researching this online but haven't really found any compelling reasons.

Obvs if the temp is way too high, the PLA will presumably slip off?

PLA generally starts to soften above 60 degrees.  With a print session with the bed above that temp its possible for parts of the model on or close to the bed to deform and sag.

You're likely to get elephant's foot deformation if your bed is too hot. It will vary depending on the filament formulation.
