Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
I have not seen an update in a while and wondering how development is going. I am always hopeful for an update with a glimpse into the behind the scenes action at Prusa. I am looking forward (as many are) to trying out the MMU!
Maybe some other news is brewing at Prusa? powder coating bed challenge solved? Commercial grade machine? New filaments? I3 Mk4? :O
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
I would love to have MMU and PC bed ship at the same time. Just sayin'.
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
There's a dedicated MMU section of the forums. There aren't any updates there but it's better to watch there than to watch MK3 news
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
saw this on Twitter today
it looks like Prusa Research have been trying to do, what people have been asking,
i.e. using purge waste as infill...
but it looks like you still need a purge block to handle excess waste.
I wish I had seen what the other side looks like!

That waste infill looks like progress, at least on the control front. I wonder how the mechanical design is progressing? The few shots we have seen of the MMU suggest its design is quite far along, but the absence of any video showing it functioning is curious. There is a nice tease video of soluble support support, but the video does not show any hardware.
The more I have used same-material-support structures, the more I have come to accept them, but having been spoiled by soluble support for years while using Stratasys commercial systems. Same-material support seems to always leave a less than desirable surface on the part. Soluble supports have always left a nicer surface (in my opinion, at least on stratasys printed parts) and allow for easy support of difficult geometries where clearing out same-material would be tricky or even impossible.
Not complaining, just eager to see what new things pop out of Prusa Research!

I saw the final MMU 2.0 today on Maker Faire Prague. Just give me a few minutes to sort and upload photos 😉
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
Josef Prusa talks about how the new extruder works in this video. It's really quite interesting. He says it works like a 'revolver selector'.
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
There is probably the final version with one more sensor - F.I.N.D.A which is mechanical based, so no more false runout alarms with clear filaments. 💡 😎
One more bonus below 😯 (no PR project, but credits to the student of the Czech Technical University in Prague.):
Hope you enjoy it. And next time visit Prague as well. PR has Open day too during Maker Faire. 😉
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
One more thing what I noticed is custom Prusa orange PTFE tube on MMU 2.0 😆
They are really obsessed with their company orange/black colors, but I love it!
Re: Any update on the new MMU? Any other news?
One thing I noticed is the coupler for the Bowden is a metal part.
Here is what I designed for when I remove the filament holder from my printer.
Unfortunately I can't locate my test print of the part so I can't show what it looke like with a tube fitted.

I was at ERRF 2018 this weekend and they were showing off a working MMU v2. It seemed pretty stable and the prints looked good.
I asked Shane if this was final dimensions and he wasn't sure, I was hoping to find out if I could build my lack enclosure and not have to modify it later.
